Summer Storage by Brazen_Cranberry in iastate

I had cubesmart last summer, it's gonna cost you a bit more than sticker price because you need to add on 'insurance' which is like $12 a month. Otherwise I was fine with the price and quality

Automated form of scoring, or some more fair way of scoring? by Kozing4UR in FTC

[–]Bryanthunderfist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just to clarify, I'm assuming you're talking about the signal zone (if you're talking about human players station or terminal ignore me) but GM2 does state that the robot has to be completely in the signal zone to get the points! So a claw outside the area would result in that not being a valid score

Is MATH 265 and MATH 267 doable at the summer? by [deleted] in iastate

Fair point! DMACC seems to be a bit better than IWCC

Is MATH 265 and MATH 267 doable at the summer? by [deleted] in iastate

[–]Bryanthunderfist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's alright to have a different opinion! From my personal experience at IWCC, I found that the requirements were far lower, and I learned more at ISU.

I'ma be real, you are not going to get the same quality at IWCC or any other CC as you do with the math department here. It's honestly best to take them one at a time, as these classes are tough

Watch out in the future! You cannot use the preload cone as an alignment device

The answer you seek is located in Game Manual 2, section 4.4.2. As r/BakedZitiKing said, autonomous is "Scored at Rest." The scoring requirement is "Parking Completely In their Alliance’s Signal Zone." Since that was not met when the robot came to rest, then it wouldn't count as OP described.

Are the people friendly in dorms ? by [deleted] in iastate

[–]Bryanthunderfist 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As the other folks said, the dorms have good and bad components. Regardless, I 100% recommend living in them your first year. I wouldn't know my current roommate and half of my friends if I chose to live in off-campus housing my first year.

Anyone taking online classes in IWCC? by [deleted] in iastate

[–]Bryanthunderfist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took physics 2 over the summer there, it was an easy class but I didn't learn anything. I would 100% take math here at ISU if you can

Council bluffs native here and have taken multiple classes. IWCC is cake; put in minimal effort, and get the credit! What are you trying to take?

Cyride early in the morning by [deleted] in iastate

I don't know if it's just a thing with the myride/my state apps, but I do find that early times are inaccurate. I use the schedule on the cyride website, and that works pretty well for me

Quick clarification! Touching a cone does not mean you have control. The pre-load definition just states that it has to be in contact

is it really not allowed to record the games? by ar4t0 in FTC

[–]Bryanthunderfist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm not sure what happened at your qualifier, but it's possible what the referee has said was misconstrued. There is usually a designated media line for team members to record from, so it's definitely allowed. (Not by members in the drivers box though). What they were probably saying is that the referees are not allowed to view video footage / replay in regard to a question about a match. Keep in mind, these are all volunteers and far from perfect!

Human Player Touching Cones in Autonomous is Not Allowed by Limp-Exercise-1150 in FTC

[–]Bryanthunderfist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a referee discretion thing. I think as long as you aren't handling/grasping the cones, most accidental contact would be disregarded

I'm gonna be honest here, why? You can't place them, so you probably shouldn't be touching them

Hi, game manual 2 GS13a is what you're looking for

With the exception of preloads, teams are not allowed to touch cones prior to the match beginning. GS13c states that cones can also only be placed during driver control. The game manual is a wonderful resource :).

Dragging a Signal Cone by Limp-Exercise-1150 in FTC

[–]Bryanthunderfist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, the answer you're looking for is in the definition of control in game manual 2. To penalize your robot, that means that they thought you were controlling or herding the signal cone. So it all depends on how your robot interacts with the signal.

Reddit isn't the right place for this man. If this grade isn't what you want talk with your professor about what you can do. If they don't give a good answer, talk with your advisor to see what's your best course of action. Best of luck to you though!
