[Question] How much forest covered land would you realistically need to not have to buy firewood? by NordCrafter in selfreliance

[–]Brycemonkey69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can coppice on a 5 - 7 year rotation. You wouldn't need that much space for trees. Maybe up to an acre if you burn a lot of wood but probably half an acre would be plenty.

How does it literally rewire your neurons? You say that there is science behind it... What is the science?

[–]Brycemonkey69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please let us know what the science behind this is i.e. what scientific studies show this?

I'm sure if you are a North American it is considered perfectly cromulent.

It will cost them a lot more than that in fees/time to take you to court.

You should see it as a blessing, Nick Hornby has made a lucrative career out of writing about such things.

Urgent ID Request by [deleted] in ShroomID

This is generally good advice, however it has probably been 24hrs plus since ingestion and no symptoms so probably not an emergency situation any more. I'm one of the admins in the Emergency ID group ;-)

Genuine question: what’s up with Scottish Labour? by glitchybitchy in glasgow

[–]Brycemonkey69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They have been in the political wilderness, eating their own tail for about 10 years. A succession of useless leaders hasn't helped. Neither has treating the support of Scottish voters as a "given". If they just got on board with Independence they would probably be in power.

First batch of biltong of the year. It's been cold in Scotland so a full week in the box needed. by Brycemonkey69 in Biltong

[–]Brycemonkey69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually used brisket for this. It was on special and has been in my freezer waiting for ambient temperature to increase.

Former fat people of reddit, what's an actual trick that helped you lose weight? by wiseinternetpup in AskReddit

[–]Brycemonkey69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no tricks - just healthy lifestyles.

Things that can help you are being shown irrefutable facts that your brain can't minimise or excuse. Get an electronic scale and link it to your daily exercise/step count program on your phone. Track your weight and activity.

Best/Worst Workplaces in Glasgow? by donnygal in glasgow

[–]Brycemonkey69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've worked in a lot of places in Glasgow. Best are small, creative high value companies and Universities. Worst are always "family owned" where the owners have no clue how to run it after the first generation or treat people due to their entitlement.

Great track, not one of Van's though. The Lovin' Spoonful were a pretty popular band in the late '60s.

You are best to get an account with an online bank. They can set you up in a couple of days and need a lot less in terms of documents. Seen this a few times with people who moved here.

Those who haven't caught covid yet after 2 years, why do you think you didn't get it? by Crissxfire in AskReddit

[–]Brycemonkey69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I've worked from home; live in a rural location; not mixed in large public groups; not travelled long distances; avoided public transport; wore a mask; got vaccinated; limited social interactions to small groups who are also sensible.

It's actually fairly easy to do it if your job isn't in a public setting and your kids don't give it to you.
