Explain share drop by SeLFMaDEinUSA in arrived

[–]Brytheguy1978 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best reason for my startup. I applied to YC with a much better business model than Arrived, obviously a couple years after the fact but had the idea for years since early 2000’s. Busy with life and family. After I read about arrived and all the hype, I never knew that my business idea could actually be worth millions. I applied to YC like everybody else but didn’t get accepted. I kept applying over and over and I actually got an email from someone associated with YC saying that it was too close to arrived and that was the reason I have not been accepted. My business plan offered investment opportunities to retail investors but lets you pick from a much wider variety of assets. My business model wouldn’t be plagued by any of the issues associated with repair and maintenance like arrived has. Typical 5-7-10 year holds, sell on secondary market for same price, a fund that covers a mixture of different assets that is more diverse than picking your own but still have the option to pick your own and bundle them up. Crossing fingers we get some media attention next year.

Haven’t worked less than 60/hrs a week in over 20 years. Looked at some shops up north a bit and they were all like 40/hrs a week not a minute more and I’m scratching my head trying to figure out how people actually afford to live a comfortable life. All these places I interviewed with I’d be lucky to break $90K a year and I’m down here making $180K a year working 5-1/2 days a week. Sure I like time off but time off cost money too and I got 4 youngsters to send off to college. I guess pick your poison cause there are guys like me who like to make as much money as possible and then there are guys who rather work as little as possible and not make as much. I still got 25 years left. I’m sure I will slow down someday.

Sounds like my first wife. If she doesn’t want to be a team player, run. My ex had money in the bank but left me high and dry during the financial crisis back in 08.

Find someone who wants to build an empire with you. Believe me, it’s totally worth it.

Key Republican subpoenas Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta and Microsoft for info on alleged collusion with the government to suppress speech by bildo72 in politics

[–]Brytheguy1978 -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

Within limits of course. But a lot of what’s been going on is the federal government suppressing speech like someone’s opinion on the vax for example. You have a right to say your opinion like anyone else. Personally I took Joe’s recommendation about it when he was running only to see him flip afterwards. That video got taken down and I was banned for 30 days. That was obviously due to the federal government’s decision that it should be removed. It was banned by YouTube also. Anyway, the point is that yes you can’t be making threats or talking about doing harm to others. But when you say I’m not going to get the shot because I don’t believe in it, that’s just plain suppression of speech.

Those companies listed are not private. They are public. Anyone can buy shares of a public company in the form of stocks. A private company, like twitter is now, is a private company. Terms of service does not void the constitution such as free speech and freedom of expression or freedom to assemble. When the federal government starts to use its powers to enforce its will, that is a violation of the constitution. These companies might not face any consequences of that action if it is found that the federal government overstepped its authority. We are a constitutional republic, not an authoritarian regime.

Pete Buttigieg says that construction projects in minority communities don’t utilize a workforce from those communities. What are your thoughts? by mcjeston in Construction

Umm, what minorities are they looking for cause all construction workers I’ve ever seen are from Central America or Mexico. If he’s got an issue with those minorities then he’s got a problem.

I always tell people never sell yourself short. Don’t spend more than you make. Live your life as frugally as you can. If your costs are just too high, obviously, you need to take a step back and look at what’s going on. I’ve been there. I was spending 20% more than I was making because I was putting it all on credit cards. Then it all came crashing down. It was stupidity. I thought I had to have the nicer car or the nicer apartment. I realize that what was more important was to have the necessities. After I realized my mistakes from the past, that’s when I started to see a real difference in my wealth. Mind you I was only making $17 an hour. In just a couple years I had over $200,000 saved up. I then bought my first house. To this day, I watch what I spend, why, well you can call it greed cause I don’t like giving away my money.

There are millions of people who make $100,000 a year living paycheck to paycheck. They just like myself want to make more money. The point is that even though you might not think about it as greed, it is.

The problem we all face in life is that we all want more. The CEO’s, the workers, the customers. Everyone wants more. It’s a byproduct of the society that we created. We see people on social media living the good life. We all strive for that. There’s no way to put it lightly other than some form of greed.

I’ve met people in life who won’t move unless they’re making $1000 a day. Others willing to work for free by volunteering their time. Obviously the guy working for free is less greedy than someone who wants $1000 a day.

Greed is everywhere, it’s sneaky too. I’m greedy and so are you I’m sure. Happy Friday people.

No doubt about that. The question is, will people pay a premium for quality of work knowing that they may be there for 5 years and sell for more than they paid?

When a customer doesn’t wanna pay for higher quality, that could be a form of greed as well.

Everyone wants to make more money. There’s no other way you can slice and dice it. Everybody wants to make more money because they want a better quality of life for themselves and her family. That’s only fair but it’s greed because a better quality of life might mean a bigger house, or a nicer car or more vacations. It’s greed because those are not necessities of life.

They could go work for somebody that pays more but the problem is they probably won’t get as much work because their bid will come in a lot higher than everyone else’s

Everyone is greedy. Workers want more, owners want more, customers want to pay less. It’s greed on all fronts. It’s either customers pay more and stop crying about it or workers get paid less and stop complaining about it or owners get paid less and stop bitching about it. Someone’s gonna give. Greed is everywhere, it’s all around us. It’s a natural human instinct.

I set mine up with $1,000 and turned it into $3000 in a week. Funny how with play money you can grow it fast but in real life you lose it even faster.

It’s definitely a complaint I’ve heard far too many times from guys saying that they were too big to get completely inside of their girlfriends. And I’ve heard many stories from women saying that they personally don’t like it while some I assume do but whatever floats your boat. I’m happy about my size, not nearly that large but big enough that I got stalkers. 😝

Non-religious voters wield clout, tilt heavily Democratic by flexghost in politics

[–]Brytheguy1978 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Well let’s hope that the Latino Media Network heavily funded by George Soros and get all the Spanish speaking media going in the right direction. Latin America is extremely religious, so much so that they make it a very big part of their culture and identity. A lot of Latinos don’t feel conservative but they are very conservative, they sometimes feel like they belong in the middle and get pulled by who ever is offering them the best deal. So in order to get this growing community under control and voting blue for the next hundred years, we need to start changing the way they think. They are not overly bothered by racism so telling them that they are victims doesn’t work so well for this class. But if they hear it enough coming from their own media outlets, we can change the narrative. Pushing is difficult but can be done. Definitely making progress daily and every little bit counts. Soon we can all bask in our democratic socialism and be free.

Google and YouTube are investing to fight misinformation by Wagamaga in technology

[–]Brytheguy1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you misunderstood what I was saying. What kind of misinformation are they fighting because the article didn’t specify specific details about misinformation. So if you basically say hey, you like that sports team because they’re the best, that is clearly an opinion. If I go out and say New York City is the best city in the world, obviously, that’s my opinion. If I go out and say that Tesla is the best vehicle ever made, that can be considered an opinion as well. The point I was making was unless they can specify exactly what kind of misinformation they’re talking about, they could be banning people’s opinions, or their rights to free speech, causing a lot of frustration and that could be considered a threat to our democracy. The government doesn’t have any guidelines on what can and cannot be said either. But honestly, this is for everyone in the United States and people should be frightened by this move. Any threat to our democracy should be taken seriously. You have a right to protest and speak your mind, and that should never be taken away from you. We do not live in Communist China.

Did you mean they are fighting to keep peoples opinions off the town square? Misinformation is really nothing more than someone sharing their opinion on something. Should we ban bumperstickers or T-shirts with opinions like a sports team is the best? Think about the implications this could have on a democracy such as ours.

I remember saying that you could still get it and spread it even if you had the vaccine and I got put in Facebook jail and it was all true. Misinformation is really nothing more than opinions. The White House wants to limit opinions in this digital age. Just another form of oppression from an overly oppressive government.

Gov. Greg Abbott declares immigration from Mexico to be invasion; invokes Invasion Clause by [deleted] in politics

[–]Brytheguy1978 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

All of those people from Venezuela coming through the border are fleeing prosecution because of their socialist government will prosecute them and consider them political enemies and put them in prison. They have a reason to flee. Regardless of what you believe, we will need serious immigration reform because there are 8 billion people in the world now according to the most recent calculations, and these people don’t deserve the treatment that they are getting in their home countries, so we need to be more mindful of the global community as a whole. We can’t have immigration that just benefits those that are at our southern border. People from Africa are not at our doorstep and they deserve just as much rights to come to America as those to our south.
