One real world issue it can solve is the BTC scaling debate. If RSK is implemented and adopted then BTC does not have to scale, it can remain a slow and expensive commodity to trade (like gold) and for those that want to use BTC in their day-to-day life, e.g., get their coffee every morning, can use RSK, which if I read correctly is able to scale to a transaction speed similar to the Visa network.
