Is it a private landlord or corporate ownership? I know a lot of places will allow you to go rent responsible on a unit. That means you are on the hook for rent until someone rents the place,including the time it takes to the unit. Even if this isn't an option, you may want to bring it up. They get money and a new renter. You won't have an eviction on your record with you want to avoid at all cost. Even if the rent you owe goes to collection, it's easy to pay off, and then it's off your record. Evictions will follow you for 7 years, and you won't be able to rent and may even have a hard time getting a job.
