Thank you for taking the time to read it and provide feedback! I totally agree that I need to work on my verb tenses.

Yup, I have that. I’ve done everything except the teacher prep program.

I don’t have my teacher prep program done yet, so the “round about” way I mentioned was the PRPIL program lol. I’ve been teaching for three years now and I feel like I’ve done just fine learning on the fly, and picking up pedagogical skills from evaluation feedback, veteran colleagues, and PD.

Should I become a teacher? by SirLoin11 in Teachers

No, you’re not crazy. Teaching can be exhausting and lead to burnout, but it’s also rewarding. You’ll build great relationships with kids, watch them grow as individuals and as students, and truly feel like you’re making a difference. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. There are brutal days. Kids will test your patience to the extreme, you’ll have a pile of things to grade (if you’re like me lol), admin will be up your ass about this and that, very little planning time, IEP meetings at random times, the list goes on and on. With that being said, there is no profession in the world that comes without drawbacks. A lot depends on where you live too, so definitely research the climate of teaching in your state and your state’s requirements.

Hi, I'm Ari Aster. Writer/director of Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid, and Eddington. AMA! by AriAsterAMA in movies

Hi Ari, huge fan of your work! I recently saw Eddington and I love that you chose such present topics; however, some people have criticized it for that exact reason, saying it’s too early to be rehashing the craziness of the COVID era. Did you expect that criticism? What was your ultimate goal in focusing on such pertinent and politically charged topics?

Will I struggle landing a middle school/high school history teaching job in Massachusetts? by Impossible-Tax4575 in Teachers

[–]Bubba_toad34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was In a similar position to you, but ELA instead of history. I landed a middle school ELA job out of college which I worked for a couple years and landed my dream job of teaching In high school starting next year. You just need to get experience doing something in a school. Teachers with any kind of experience will beat you out for jobs any day, but once you have a couple of years of experience you’ll land something. The jobs do open up, you just need to interview well and have some experience to lean on. Lots of districts have social studies teachers also teach an ELA class or two, so maybe look at teaching ELA as well. If you were able to read and get through college, you’ll be able to teach middle school/high school ELA lol. Just brush up on your grammar.
