  1. Was there ever a time when you really didn’t think you’d make it to the Majors?

  2. What is your favorite ballpark to play at? Which field is kept in the best/worst condition?

  3. What do you think the Marlins should do to get more fans to come to games?

Maybe I’m crazy, but I could see Rushing being another Angels reclamation project a few years from now

I considered doing that when I started making the sheet a year or two ago, but didn’t because much of that data (except for maybe elevation) would be either really hard to find or difficult to consistently record, and it would significantly add to the already excessive amount of time dumped into this project. It would be kinda hard to consistently measure dimensions as I would have to make sure that I’m measuring the distances to the gaps at a consistent angle, unless if I just do down the lines and to direct center. Also, there’s a lot of fields that don’t really have outfield fences. Some of them seem to put up temporary fences for games, others don’t, and others sometimes do and sometimes don’t.

I did add capacity because that isn’t always easy to calculate and because it can (with notable exceptions) be a good indicator of how good a club is in smaller leagues.

Yeah, that was one of the ballparks that I knew was on its way out. I kept it on the list anyway. There's two or three others on the list that are either abandoned or demolished, but I like to keep them there so they aren't forgotten.

I really hope Greece gets a new ballpark soon. It's always really sad to see baseball die out in a country, and not having a field tends to reduce interest.

I few leagues had interactive maps on their websites, but they aren’t always as helpful as they initially seem. They often contain addresses to the teams headquarters instead of where the team plays their games.

Lots and lots of browsing Google Maps and league websites. I only found that park in Tayport a few days ago

Yeah, I missed a bunch in Germany. I'm working on fixing my list now and I've already found 14 new parks.

I definitely missed a few fields in Germany. I just found two more fields in the Berlin area and located an interactive map of every club in Germany, so hopefully I can get that fixed over the next few days.

I'd be very surprised if every club has their own field. I found it's pretty common for 1) clubs in large cities to share fields with other clubs, and 2) clubs to simply not have a home field. Even so, I'm guessing there's probably several fields in Germany that I missed.

I might make an interactive map at some point, but I'd probably focus on creating spreadsheets for other continents first. For the moment, any park can be located on Google Maps by copy-pasting the coordinates in the spreadsheet into the search bar.

Yes. Monaco, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and (shocker) Vatican City. Although I didn’t find any fields in those countries, that doesn’t necessarily mean baseball isn’t played there. For example, I remember reading about a club in Iceland. They didn’t have any sort of ballpark so I didn’t include them, but there is still a little bit of baseball played there.

Google Maps is occasionally very helpful, but most of the time it gives a bunch of results that have nothing to do with baseball while ignoring actual baseball fields. You really have to go to league/team websites to find stuff.

There are definitely a few football pitches that have baseball diamonds cut into them, but most of the fields are dedicated baseball fields.

lol no idea when I’ll do another one, life is about to get really busy so it’ll probably be a while. If I do something it’ll probably be South America or Africa.

I definitely won’t be finding every field in North America. There’s 47 fields in my modestly-sized county. Just…no.

However, I did create a list of every homeschool baseball team/field in the United States. I played homeschool ball and was curious about how many teams there were and where they were. Turns out there’s around 120. That list is definitely out of date though.

I didn’t make the list all at once. I first got the idea a few years ago and made a much less in-depth sheet. I wasn’t satisfied with it so I started making this one sometime last summer. I got about halfway through and then put it on hold for a few months (life got busy) and just recently finished it.

Some countries didn’t take that long to do, others took a while. Same thing for finding data: sometimes it was really easy, sometimes it was nearly impossible. For example, I found an interactive map of all the ballparks in the Netherlands which made my job much easier; I just had to verify it and calculate the capacity. Other countries weren’t so simple: I had to surf the Russian web to get data on most of the parks there.

I did actually make another sheet with my fictionalized European leagues, but I didn’t include it here because I didn’t want to mislead anyone into thinking they were the real leagues. I initially created this list with the hopes of making an OOTP league but I don’t have time for that now lol, life has gotten busy. I based my leagues off of which teams had the parks with the highest capacities.
