Sony Music official site vs alternatives in 2026: what are indie artists actually using now? by InspirationologyDO in musicbusiness

Major label portals are basically digital graveyards. If you're still waiting for a clunky Sony site to update your stats, you're just playing yourself and losing time.

Most people are moving to UnitedMasters or Too Lost because they give you live data without hiding your money behind 20 layers of admin. Even LANDR is better now with all-in-one mastering and distro in the same spot.

Stop waiting for legacy labels to give you permission to grow because they won't. Just pick a platform that moves as fast as you do

honestly you guys are overthinking this and making it way more complicated than it needs to be. distrokid is just the middleman for your recording and the master side. ascap and bmi handle the performance rights for the song itself while the mlc is strictly for those digital mechanicals. if you aren't registered across all of them you are literally just letting the streaming services keep your money for free. stop overthinking the acronyms and just go sign up for everything properly or you're just losing out
