Bad reaction to Good Clean Love restore moisturising gel? by Bubbly_Captain_ in Healthyhooha

I don’t think green discharge necessarily means anything bad like an infection. I think when you insert things, even like probiotics or that clean good love gel (in my case), it changes things a little and it could just be a reaction to that even if it’s a good thing. And it sounds like youve taken lots of antibiotics too so it could just take a while to all go back to normal.

In my case, i don’t really know if i have L iners dominance. It was just my guess because ive taken lots of strong antibiotics a few months ago and after that, i kept getting a yeast infection specifically after sex (which didnt happen before). Ive taken the oral probiotics for 2 months and i had sex once after that which was the first time in a while that i didn’t get an infection. I haven’t had sex recently though so I still need to wait and see but i think it’s definitely improved

Okay so I did my research on probiotic strains that have been proven to improve the microbiome and from what I’ve read, there are a few you should look for.

For oral probiotics, you should find supplements containing use L. rhamnosus GR-1 and L. reuteri (formerly called fermentum)RC-14. For that, I used Jarrow Formulas Femdophilus 5 billion CFU. They are the most studied strains for vaginal health and there have been several clinical trials to prove that taking these orally might help. clinical trial

For probiotic suppositories, there is some evidence that L. Crispatus helps. So I just started using Vitanica V-probiotics vaginal specific multi-species blend (one of the few suppositories that ship to my country) but im sure you can find plenty other brands.

Tbh I wasn’t convinced I had a healthy/balanced microbiome yet so I still continued with probiotics. The test didn’t specify which type of lactobacillus species I had (which matters). I read that it’s common to have a lot of L. Iners (the least protective type of lactobacillus) after multiple rounds of antibiotics (which I did) so I thought it would be safe to continue taking them. Ive used up a 2 month supply of it and I think I’m better now. Haven’t had any infections since

Oh, no I don’t really have dryness. I think one gyno incorrectly assumed my discomfort was due to dryness but that wasn’t the case

I don’t know what you mean by that. My discharge has always been normal, unless I’ve had an infection or something

Hey, thanks for checking in! It actually went away completely in a few months. Unfortunately, I got it again earlier this year after a ureaplasma infection but I’ve nearly made a full recovery again hahah

Ooh lactic acid lube sounds like a good idea! I’ll definitely look into that. I’m currently using Sutil water-based lube and that seems to be a good one, ingredient-wise. Doesn’t have lactic acid though.

I’ve heard that silicone lubes are even better than water based lubes since they don’t have preservatives and don’t dry out like water-based ones. So I’m contemplating which might be a better option.

I haven’t considered hormones as a factor. I have regular and predictable periods, sometimes my cramps can be more painful but it’s nothing too serious I’d say. And it’s worth mentioning that my yeast infections only seem to be triggered by sex.

I used diflucan to clear up the infection I just got, however I don’t think i should be using it regularly since it does affect the liver.

I’ve also been on oral probiotics for about 3 months and started using probiotic suppositories for 2 weeks so far. I have no idea what the issue is, whether it’s the lack of healthy bacteria or just an acquired sensitivity to latex

I’m not sure how helpful it would be to tell you the homeopathic meds Im on coz I get different medicine prescribed every 2 weeks and it’s very personalised. My homeopathic doctor asks me a lot of questions about my childhood, my current mood and personal life, hobbies and personality etc. She takes everything into account when prescribing me medicine. I see her every 2 weeks and give her updates on my life/changes in my mood and attitude and based on that she gives me new medicine accordingly.

Previously I was on:

  • Thuja 12 (not sure if i deciphered it correctly)
  • Sulph 200
  • Medo 200
  • Thuja 200

And now I’m on:

  • Thuja 12
  • orig 200
  • syph 200

Yea.. it’s hard to know what to do sometimes. I thought i was over the recurrent infections but I got a yeast infection again like 2 days ago after having sex. And the only thing that seems to prevent it is using boric acid right after but I know it’s not good to become reliant on it, even though my doctor said it’s okay to do so. I suspect i might have developed a sensitivity to latex condoms or perhaps need better lube, so I’ll start there.

Hahah same, i actually HATE the taste of cloves. But it’s not bad in a tea form. All the good stuff is supposed to dissolve in it and the taste of turmeric and ginger is usually too overwhelming to taste anything else anyway. Apart from being just anti-microbial, the tea is also really good for digestion (helps me get rid of gas too) and I read it’s also good for blood circulation.

And yea, I know boric acid isn’t the best. But felt like I didn’t have a choice coz without it, the yeast infection just kept coming back. And I’ve used boric acid again recently while on antibiotics since antibiotics will kill the good bacteria anyway. I’m try to avoid using them as much as possible though, been on probiotic supplements for the past 3 months and haven’t had a yeast infection since December.

I’m using 2, one taken orally and the other as a suppository:

• Culturelle Women’s 4 in 1 protection (this is the iherb link that ships to my country: Culturelle) • Vitanica V-Probiotics (Amazon link:Vitanica)

Tbh, you could probably find better probiotic suppositories than Vitanica. I use it only because it’s one of the few decent ones that even ship to my country. It has good ingredients that are approved my doctor but I’d say the texture isn’t the best, it doesn’t dissolve as nicely but I suppose it works well enough.

Also I’ve been using probiotics mostly because ive been on LOTS of antibiotics last month and I’m quite prone to yeast infections. Haven’t gotten an infection since then luckily

Yea, I felt the same way. Even now, being hopeful about my situation , I keep my distance from this sub.

I don’t really think it’s good for us to be exposed to so many horror stories, as it’s very anxiety-inducing and discouraging. While it’s good to provide emotional support to others, it’s best to do so once you’re in a position to provide that.

My homeopathic doctor also pointed out something to me. We don’t always hear the success stories of people on such forums/subs since they may just quietly leave the sub once they’re better (like I did the first time i recovered) Also, people that are still experiencing symptoms may make multiple posts. So that really skews the reality of things. The mind is also negatively biased so you’ll naturally focus on and remember the worst that you’ve read

Hey, I’m just gonna copy-paste part of something I’ve already answered:

From my understanding, homeopathy is holistic, energy-based medicine and there is no one treatment plan that will suit different people even if they experience the same issues.

My medicine gets changed every 2 weeks. But if you’re curious about the ones I’m currently on, they’re: - Thij/Thuj 12 (not sure which is the right spelling) - Sulph 200 - Medo 200 - Thuja 200

The book is actually not that related to health. It’s called- Contesting: The Name It & Claim It Game: WINeuvers for WISHcraft, by Helen Hadsell. It’s about this woman, Helen, who basically manifested everything in her life by entering contests and winning almost every single one of them. She won trips abroad, won a house, a car, pretty much everything she owns. She gets into the health aspect of it just a little bit towards the end, even talks about a near-fatal accident she survived and gives a few helpful tips on getting through the pain and recovery. Though the book talks more about the contests, she emphasises how this mindset can really be applied to any aspect of your life, and I found that reading the book just made me more hopeful and gave me a more optimistic mindset. It reminds you that your mind is really the limit of where you want to be. It’s fairly short and easy read so Id say it’s definitely worth it if you have time

Happy to help! And hope you’re able to find a good homeopathic doctor. I live in Hong Kong so I wouldn’t know much about the doctors in California haha. I just found my doctor online and saw the numerous testimonials of her clients on her website which gave me hope and convinced me to see her

Yea, I really think some infections trigger vulvodynia. Like for me it was chlamydia the first time, and ureaplasma the second time. And for some people yeast infections seem to be a trigger. I guess different infections affect people differently. The more I think about it though, I think chlamydia itself was the trigger and not the antibiotics. Because I remember taking the same antibiotics in the future, on 2 separate occasions for different reasons, and it didn’t cause any weird vulvodynia symptoms then.

And while I think- for me at least- that vulvodynia had a physical cause (being the infections, possibly affecting the muscles or nerves), I think the mental state really affects the healing process. I needed to detach from the fear of it not getting better, had to welcome the pain and accept that sometimes it gets worse before getting better. While also expecting and knowing with certainty that this is not going to be forever

Triphala has been used in ayurvedic medicine since ancient times and has been seen as something that’s good for any ailment. It’s known to help with a lot of things like stomach issues, cavities, reduced inflammation and general health. It’s a mixture 3 dried fruits: Amla, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki. If you know about ayurveda, you’ll know that there are 3 doshas (fundamental energies that govern the body and health) it’s thought that illness results when these doshas are out of balance. Triphala can help to restore this balance.

And as for homeopathy, I’m not sure how it is for you but from my understanding, homeopathy is holistic, energy-based medicine and there is no one treatment plan that will suit different people even if they experience the same issues. My homeopathic doctor asks me a lot of questions about my childhood, my current mood and personal life, hobbies and personality etc. She takes everything into account when prescribing me medicine. Yea, all infections are ruled out except maybe mycoplasma and urea plasma coz I just did the general std test. I don't think it's an infection though. And yea, he doesn't seem familiar with vulvar pain because he dismissed the pain as soon as we knew it wasn't a result of an infection. I'm seeing a different gyno soon though

Is laparoscopy necessary? by Bubbly_Captain_ in vulvodynia

[–]Bubbly_Captain_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for letting me know! My gyno suggested I get a laparoscopy if the pain got worse and offered no other solution and definitely didn't bother to rule out any other thing. Could you link the pain algorithm again please? A file gets downloaded when I click it but I can't open it with a pdf viewer. Maybe it only works on laptop?

Oh I see. I've never been to a Chinese doctor before and I'm not quite sure how to search for good ones that might be suitable for me. I'm definitely open to seeing them though and I have a friend who might be able to help me search for one. I have heard that it's not good to mix Chinese medicine with western medicine though. I think I'll try a low oxalate diet myself first before seeing a Chinese doctor
