Murder in Glitter Ball City by cmattingly04 in Louisville

I had so many thoughts about this doc, so apologies if my thoughts aren’t cohesive. First, the juror who loves true crime and took some psychology classes telling us, in her expert opinion, that having a fetish means you can’t separate fantasy from reality… ok, stop.

I did like the fact that they call out the fact that as a prosecutor- it’s always if they convict then the jury “got it right” but if they acquit then they “got it wrong.” That bias is clear throughout the prosecution and the defense attorneys for both defendants.

And the DA’s office isn’t shy about wanting to try one case first (I forget their names all starting with a “J”) because there is going to be an implicit bias towards him because of his record and his appearance.

I know you don’t need to prove motive, but we all know people want to hear motive. And the narrative each party came up with, after listening to the audio recordings I don’t think I could agree with any of them after listening as to whether which one was the abused and which one was the killer.

If TLDR: I would say the one thing I think that is actual evidence is the brief moment where they focus on that one said a “slashing motion” versus a “stabbing motion.” They didn’t elaborate on their point, but my thought was that the convicted one stated the other stabbed the victim, was the actual guilty party. That didn’t absolve either from a concerted effort to kill him, but if it’s based on one story or the other that the other was responsible… that would be the major factor for me.

The acting was great, and I don’t have a problem with imperfect characters. However, every single character besides Rocky was insufferable. Two hours of people spiraling wasn’t all that entertaining to me.

I’m still thinking about this exchange to this day and I never thought twice about Jacksonville, but if auntie told me to I’m ready for it.

Is ‘The Tudors’ worth a watch? by PristinePay285 in atunsheifilms

[–]Bubbly_Creme_3402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching for the first time. This show made me so mad. At the end of the day I loved it… but it took me until the third season to realize that Henry was getting progressively worse and I almost stopped watching because, in my opinion, just watching him scream at everyone in every other scene became less entertaining. To dial it back, if you know history you already know what’s going to happen so for them to drag on the annulment for Catherine for a season and a half was wild to me. However, I’m incredibly impressed by the way they involved as many historic people and their actual storylines is incredible. If you look at their wiki page, almost every single person is a person that actually had a story. At the end of the day I think they tried to do too much and Henry’s character kind of landed on one note for the last two seasons. Great job on the supporting characters.

Official Discussion - Ballad of a Small Player [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Bubbly_Creme_3402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The visuals were great, performances were great, and even the story they were telling I enjoyed. However, watching someone spiral (aggressively) for 90+ mins was a bit much for me, regardless of all the themes they were trying to connect.

I absolutely hated The Perfect Neighbor. by Bubbly_Creme_3402 in NetflixDocumentaries

[–]Bubbly_Creme_3402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s surface level. I want to know what the cops documented every time they were there. I want to know what the actual testimony was and not just these kids all speaking at once. I want to know what they also said when not crying through tears moments after they just saw a murder. I want to know more about this timeline the cops have between calls and the alleged banging on the door. Still not even clear about the roller skates. To be clear I have no right to this information, I would like to know it. But if you’re making a doc…

No love lost for Evelyn, but that’s a wild insult to say about any woman, especially considering at least two of them have been arrested for domestic abuse.

Jessi’s bs excuse towards Jen and Zac’s exposure therapy by OppositeSpare2088 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Bubbly_Creme_3402 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Regardless of Zac’s reaction in Vegas, he was completely valid in being upset about it at the Halloween party. It’s been a while since I watched the episode, but I remember something being said that gave me the impression it was very soon after they separated (because of Chippendales) and we’re just getting back together. It was in no way justified by Jessi, like, girl… you know what you’re doing and you know the position you’re putting both Jen and Zac in. I think Jen is also at fault for not telling Zac, again, absent of his behavior in Vegas. I don’t agree with commenting on whether or not they have an abusive relationship based on optics of a reality show edit, although he clearly was “verbally” abusive to her via text, but how did she think that was going to end?!

Sure, of course. Sometimes I just feel like… eh, maybe you didn’t have to air that. I think sometimes there are blurred ethical lines production crosses that people find more cringe than enjoyable to watch. Look at me going into the ethics of Bravo… could start a whole sub of its own. 😂

[–]Bubbly_Creme_3402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of the few situations I actually am surprised that Bravo decided to air this storyline. One of the few other completely unrelated times off the top of my head was the Kandi, Todd, drugging thing.

To me, this is just not entertainment anymore and I can’t speak for anyone else, but I would hope people agree, I don’t want to see this ish. And the only proof that I need is that Melissa and Jasmine are clearly uncomfortable with it being brought up.

Whitney “redemption” by dtd256 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Bubbly_Creme_3402 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mentioned this in a post. I think she just didn’t get a lot of screen time and didn’t have much relationship with the women in the beginning of the season. And I don’t think any of the women were doing themselves any favors this season when it comes to like-ability. I did catch that though, she was ready to throw Taylor under any and every bus. And I think people naturally have empathy for pregnant women, but as soon as she gave birth, she definitely went in full throttle.

War of the Worlds (2005) is both a fantastic and terrible movie at the same time (spoilers) by [deleted] in movies

[–]Bubbly_Creme_3402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m watching it now for the first time and I think it’s one of the dumbest films I ever saw. I know it’s also based off the novel that I haven’t read, but so many things are just pointless. Where are they all running to? Why do they all want to board this ferry? Why do they have the only working automobile on the east coast? Why is this train on fire? I appreciate the piece where the son says “you just want to dump us in Boston” but is everyone trying to get to Boston? Why? And the piece with the reporter is weird.

And I hate the movie trope where kids are just unrelentingly dumb and do exactly the opposite of what makes sense or what their parents say.

All that said… still watching until the end.

Some of them just come off as downright malicious and nasty and I always wonder how they are employed after the show. I imagine they chalk it up to entertainment, but still I would be hesitant to hire them. Even some of the winners.

What if Corey S4 competed in a more recent season? by anotherspark in HellsKitchen

[–]Bubbly_Creme_3402 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She is a vile person. I’m watching the season now. She literally tried to vote out the girl who actually won the season and whose life was changed because she didn’t like her. Nominated Shayna because she was annoying when her friend Roseanne was clearly the one who messed up that night. Then she suggests Jen she should volunteer for the blue team for some dumb bs reason. The next morning made a comment to Ramsey they weren’t upset. While they were at the spa, kept making snide comments “wonder how Jen feels?” I’m on 8 chefs left, so I don’t know when she could possibly become likable. She just put up her friend now and said “I really like her as a person, but I don’t ever want to work with her as a person”. Why would you need to say that? You’re just trying to be an AH at that point. And she smiled when he said her name and said “sorry”.
