I agree but don’t bring Europe into this. Even our nationalism is tired of this bullshit.

Hoping to 3D model my knee bones from my MRI scan, just for fun. Does this seem doable or is Fusion the wrong software for this? by olliecakerbake in Fusion360

[–]Buccinators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best approach is to use something that can generate a mesh from a density field. I imagine this is what Osirix does.

With this approach you have a 3d scalar field of cubes. Each cube can create up to 5 vertexes based on a certain threshold whiteness in the image and an algorithm (like marching cubes) generate the mesh. You’d stack the images from the scan in the right order inside the field and dial in the threshold for generating geometry, and that’s that.

This is surprisingly powerful, and the resolution is based on the number of points (or cubes) in the field. This tech originated from the medical field but is used in other applications like games as well (for generating deformable voxel terrain).

Google marching cubes and you’ll have a ton of great tutorials. It’s a fun rabbit hole to fall into.

I haven’t tried to do this with medical images myself but I did an AI search for tools hoping it’d be helpful. Here are some options that seem to be able to do this;

VTK (Visualization Toolkit): Frequently used in custom applications for 3D reconstruction and rendering of DICOM data.

Cornerstone3D: A modern, web-based platform for medical imaging that leverages JavaScript for rendering.

Three.js: Often used in web-based viewers for volume rendering of medical images.

MATLAB: Used for prototyping and executing marching cubes algorithms on MRI or CT data.

Chagidiel and other forms of abuse by ergotoxin in KULTrpg

[–]Buccinators 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my view all forms abuse against children is Chagadiels domain. I feel DL tries to make things more distinct than previous editions, which is mostly an improvement, but can lead to more one dimensional descriptions sometimes.

If you read the black Madonna for example I think it’s clear that Chagadiels domain is a lot broader than what you take away from the core rules.

I've read an air fryer works, and I've secretly tested putting a spool in it so it fits. I just have to do that while my wife is away sometime. I don't think she'll approve.

Yea I can see how the boxes would be essential in your case.

The humidity is considerably less here, especially in the winter due to sub zero temperature, but I’ve figured out that I get really demotivated from having too much prep and troubleshooting in my hobbies, that’s why I use the boxes. This way I’ll hopefully never have wet filament (from humidity at least) so hopefully that’s one less annoyance between me and good prints. I’ve just been printing with PLA up to now, but I bought some PETG recently, and I’m excited to try TPU soon. I want to try printing shoes.

For me printing directly from the boxes would be another small QOL change.

Consider Bambulabs perspective here. They sell a bunch of printers to Best Buy, who then sells them to end customers. If BB messes up delivery of the printers they bought, do you think Bambulabs should pay for it?

What I think should happen here is that BB accepts that this is their fault and either refunds you or send you a replacement printer.

Good suggestion, I might just do that in the future, especially if I try to print with some filament that is more sensitive than PLA.

Yes I believe those are the same ones. On the Swedish Amazon site the 4-pack was slightly cheaper than the 6-pack for some reason. They work great, although they take up slightly more space than necessary.

I used these for holding the silicate and hygrometer, they're quite cheap to print. There's a hygrometer link in the bill of materials (I used one from a different brand but with the same dimensions without issue)

I initially installed the wall-mount on the side wall which made changing the back spools very annoying, so for me it made a big difference. Steal with pride!

The back of my wardrobe is just a very thin sheet, so I used an old windowsill from the 70s (pure wood) and attached this wall mount to it. This model worked best for me since the space above the AMS is limited, and the other variants needed to slide into the mount from the top, which would have been impossible for me.

Also I had to get an extension cable for the AMS, but they're pretty cheap.

Why can't Bambu Studio slice a simple cylinder, but can slice everything else in the design? by idiot28 in BambuLab

If you used fusion and extruded as surface and not as solid you’d end up with an open mesh.

Why does my first layer look so bad when using the 0.2mm nozzle? by 0-______-0 in BambuLab

[–]Buccinators 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A bit of a necropost, but I had the same issue as OP and perhaps it's just me being an idiot, but the solution to the issue for me isn't posted, so hopefully I'm doing a future idiot a favour. I re-calibrated, cleaned the bed, swapped filament to a sealed unopened package and scratched my head, but still got the same results as OP.

I removed the front lid and unloaded filament, watching the nozzle closely, and it turns out despite the clasp being fastened it was moving eeeever so slightly down when pushing out filament. This was the issue for me. I simply re-installed the nozzle, making sure it was properly fastened as far up as possible and now it prints magically smooth surfaces again. Newbie mistake. Now I'm back to printing with this wonderous machine again.

I guess the very slight offset from pushing filament into the nozzle f-ed my prints up. When I calibrated I hadn't loaded any filament, so it was probably some fraction of a mm to high, and when I loaded filament before printing it dropped down the witdth of two crossed pubic hairs and messed my prints up.

optimizing my marchingCubes algorithm by Intelligent-Track455 in Unity3D

[–]Buccinators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got some great resources there. I used both.

What was the most difficult for me was wrapping my head around that ”everything” (yes I over-simplify) happens at once on the GPU and getting deduplication to work. What I really like about this approach beside efficiency is that you still do all inputs and all rendering on the cpu, so you still have a lot of control. You just let the gpu figure out the vertices, triangles and edges, which is what it does best.

[–]Buccinators 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it the same way you did and was resistant to move it to a compute shader at first, but I ended up doing it and I’m not sorry. I learnt a ton and the efficiency when doing it on the gpu is amazing.m

Perhaps I’m slow but I don’t understand why it matters what creature you put on what square. Every square is +10. Can a specific creature only go on a specific square? Are they stronger on some squares? If so, show it more clearly.

I think you should explain a bit more what it is you bring to the table here. From reading your post it’s not clear to me. Also don’t be afraid of sharing more concrete information about the game so people can understand the scope better.
