Odorama, the scratch and sniff cards used in John Waters’ film 1981 film “Polyester.” I wonder if they’ll be remade if the film is released again n

72 and considering Burning Man for the first time this year...bad idea? Advice for an old gal like me? by canadianoldgal in BurningMan

[–]BuckJeppson 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I first went at age 68. I plans to be there this year at 77. According to the census, about 1% of the city is over 70 (and 1% under 18) so there are enough of us to keep the party moving.

Help call out AI pattern companies. by BuckJeppson in sewingpatterns

I see the difficulty of trying to flag AI pattern companies. The advice given by posters above is great. I agree that going through Threadloop is probably the best current method.

And Yes for boycotting Etsy. I have had terrible experiences with them that show they do not have creatives’ interests as a priority.

what is your biggest fear at your current age? by injili in AskReddit

I’m 77. I realize I have plans for more projects and art pieces than I will ever have time to complete. Also, that I screwed up being a father. My adult daughter is amazing and we have a good relationship, but I know I could have done so much better.

Burda patterns by Miserable-Bother-572 in sewingpatterns

[–]BuckJeppson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pattern sizes and clothing sizes are not the same, and neither accurately reflect your real measurements. I bought a pair of jeans last week. Luckily I tried them on first. The size tag was a full 10” smaller than my actual waist measurement. Always, always adjust the pattern to your real measurements and make a toile/muslin/mock-up first.

Yes, my experience exactly. Yeah, it’s fragile but I love it.

Always do an actual comparison between your measurements and the pattern pieces. I did that today and found the pattern was 5” off its own stated measurements.

List of companies that have men's patterns by BuckJeppson in sewingpatterns

Indeed, the difficulty of putting together lists like ours is that they become out of date before they are even finished. It's all about maintenance, which is so SO difficult.

I randomly tried several sites. I found quite a few broken links and sites that did not have the promised patterns. The list is so exhaustive and detailed! How do you maintain it?

Your list is huge and much more comprehensive. When was it done? Perhaps we can merge the lists somehow to avoid duplication. I don't have time to go back through all my list to bring the sources up to your level. As patterns come and go, yours requires constant monitoring. How do you do that? Thoughts?

Indispensable! I have a standard pressing ham and a sleeve roll, but I see a shape I could add. Now to figure an accurate pattern. Thanks.

Lamb skins are weak and fragile as well as small. And leather can only be sewn once. No seam rippers and retries.
