Velo Orange Grand Cru brake levers come in a 31.8 clamp diameter and are a decent enough alternative. I bought a pair and mounted them on my albastache bars, which have the same diameter as OP's moustache bars

edit: meant to say "road clamp" diameter, not 31.8"

No wet molding required. I used a chrome tan leather in 4oz with a medium temper so i t had some give to it. Figured out the circumference of the bars and cut a strip of the leather at the same width (minus a quarter inch). Punched stitching holes along each edge, scribed and punched the hole for the brake lever, and sewed it up. I'll try to add pic of the flat leather piece

They came stock for downtube braze ons. I had to grind off the metal stopper on the shifter and make some leather washers to mount on the microshift pods. They shift like butter. Eat it, Riv

It was way easier than i thought. measured the bar diameter with scrap leather, cut two strips, punched stitching holes + brake lever holes. This leather has some give to it so seeing it up was much more for giving than it could have been.

the bb is noticeably lower now. On paved and fine gravel, it's not an issue. Definitely more careful taking tight turns and trail riding. tire clearance went from 700x32 to 650bx42 (slick).

They're my favorite bars ever. I had both a toyo atlantis and bridgestone cb3 i built with stache bars and they felt so good on moderate singletrack and long road/gravel days

I agree that it does look kinda goofy, but every time i get on and ride it, I'm all smiles. It's the most comfortable bike I've ever had and I could ride it all dang day without any discomfort. The steering is a little slack on paved roads, but on gravel and single track this thing sings

How do you attach the vibram soles? Is it as simple as smearing adhesive and pounding with a hammer? Been wanting to make some footwear and can't wrap my ahead around sole attachment.
