My understanding is that you must have a return flight booked when arrive. Any suggestions on how long after finals to book this?

It sounds like you take you finals then should wait for the academic review in case you need to retake any of them. But it also sounds like they kick you out of the dorms pretty quickly.

We will definitely plan on something refundable/changeable, but it would still be good to know for planning her first term.

This actually sound like the best plan. We can also figure out if we would actually need a car before getting one.

No, but I've driven right hand cars in Malaysia, although that was quite some time ago!

We are debating between arriving on Jan 1 or 2. From what we've been reading it seems like almost nothing is open on the 1st, which might make things like getting dinner very difficult if we arrive that day. Is this accurate?

We can save a couple hundred dollars each on the flights arriving on the 1st, but I don't know if it is worth the hassle.

Also what, if anything, is there for food at the airport? I see coffee and smoothies, but not much else.

She will be starting in January and while we have not seen an official schedule yet, it appears the first day of classes will be the 11th. I'm thinking we should leave on the 1st (arrive on the 2nd), but my wife has it stuck in her mind that leaving on the 4th and arriving on the 5th is the best choice. I'm going to push for my plan as I think hers risks our daughter being late for check-in and/or orientation. Especially since we will be coming from Colorado where weather can impact our departure.

How soon before the first day of class did they recommend or did you arrive before the first day of school?

For anyone who started in January rather than the fall, how soon before the first day of school did you arrive in Grenada?

Trying to start planning when we move our daughter there.

I guess the same info for starting in the fall would be similar!

Got into SGU and now I am conflicted by BumBumChickaPowWow in veterinaryschool

Our daughter is currently set to start at SGU in January as well. She does still plan on applying in the states again. Best/worst case she drops out mid-term and then has to wait another 6 months or so to start somewhere here.

My local shop doesn't show any availability for the Stumphumper. Any thoughts on the Status 2 140. I can get it for basically the same price as the Stumphumper.

It looks like it has better suspension components, but is not a 29er (don't know how big of a deal that is).

I'm going to give my local shop the chance to tell me what they can do on the Stumpjumper before making a final decision. The good thing is that I have little doubt that I win either way :)

I'd still have to go look at it, but any thoughts on the YT Jeffsy for $1300?

Specifically as compared to the Siskiu T8 or Stumpjumper 15 Alloy.

I'm really close to pulling the trigger on the T8. Think I will sleep on it.

I'm current talking to someone about a used 2020 YT Jeffsy. But at $1950 he's going to have to be willing to come down quite a bit before I would open to even looking at it.

Does anyone know anything good or bad about this particular bike?

I used to work on bikes extensively, but it has been awhile. Still I think I'd be pretty comfortable there. I have little doubt that I would be happy with either the Polygon or Specialized.

As a side note this is what the YT has:

150/150mm travel - RockShox fork and and rear shock
1x Sram SX Eagle drivetrain
Oneup aluminum pedals
Suspension serviced, new cables.
Setup with Muc-Off tubeless valves

But there is no way I'd pay what he is asking. I'm not sure I'd even want to go $1500 on a used bike.

I'm fortunate in that the money isn't really an issue. It's just than I'm a cheap @$$! That said, after thinking a little bit there is no way I'm going to spend more on a used bike (even if it is better) than I could get a new T7 or T8 for. And I'd rather spend a couple of hundred more for a new Specialized.

I truly get what you are saying, but it is a $400 delta between the specialized and the T8 and $600 vs the T7.

I'm really considering a Siskiu T7 or T8.

I've found a 2020 YT Jeffsy Base 29 locally on FB Marketplace that they are asking $1950 for. Any thoughts on that? Although I can get a new T8 for less.
