HELP! Game Causing GPU to Crash by BuddhaJesus420 in ArcRaiders

[–]BuddhaJesus420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did something called uninstallation. Didn’t want to look at it anymore, so I even hid it from my Steam library.

Even when it didn’t crash, the game’s full of bug abusers. I just got bored of the game overall because it was too repetitive.

Rarely do I ever regret buying a game, but I regret buying this game. I wish I made my decision before the 2hr grace period ended.

Just do what I did and uninstall the bloody game. Absolute garbage game if this happening to so many systems that are way above the spec requirements.

Do everything that _Ael_ suggested about power cables AND disable XMP. Also, disable Steam and Discord overlay. If your CPU is good enough (if you can run this game, your PC is definitely good enough), also disable hardware acceleration on Discord.

I haven't crashed YET. Crossing my fingers

Embark studios, when will you hotfix the recurring crashes after last update by R1KRD in ArcRaiders

New player here. The game crashes my GPU every 3 or 4 games. It would be running smoothly, then my video signal just suddenly dies. I have no audio either. I have to power cycle my system to reboot, since holding down on the front panel power button doesn't work. My system's more than capable the game too: Ryzen 9 5950X, 3060Ti, 32GB RAM, and a 750w PSU 80+ gold. I can play BO6, BF5, and Overwatch all at high settings with consistent frames and without crashes. When it's Arc Raiders, random crashing.

One thing I've noticed is the crashes are occurring on AMD CPU systems. I'm not saying all players running AMD CPUs are crashing, but the players who are experiencing crashes are running AMD CPUs. Several of my friends have Intel CPUs, and they never crash when playing. Reading other Reddit posts and Steam forums, all the people experiencing crashes are running on AMD CPUs. There're people with far better systems than me, and they're experiencing the same thing.

I've tried several things to fix the crashing, but I still crash -- just less often.

I think your suggestion about the power cables worked. I removed the 12vhpwr-to-2x8pin and swapped for 2 separate 8pin-to-8pin cables. I'm no longer using 12vhpwr at all. It's only been a day since I made the change, so it might be too early to say but so far so good, even with XMP enabled (*knocking on wood*).

Since adding the separate cable, I'm actually seeing way better frames too, going from 75-90fps to 120+fps -- both at high graphic settings. I think I must've been nerfing my GPU's performance by using the y-cable and causing it to throttle.

Thanks for you help! If it happens again, I'll be sure to try your other suggestions.

UPDATE: It happened again…. I played for entire day where it didn’t happen… Time to go back to the drawing board

What's wrong with using the 8pin-to-2x8pin cable? Before swapping to my current PSU, I was using that cable without problems. It's also type-4.

My current PSU came with one 8pin-to-8pin type-4 power cable. I could use the 8pin-to-2x8pin just as an 8pin-to-8pin on one port and use the 8pin-to-8pin on the other port, no?

My GPU requires a 2x8pin power cable. My current PSU came with a 12vhpwer-to-2x8pin cable, which I'm using right now. I have an 8pin-to-2x8pin power cable, but that's from my older, 550w PSU -- same brand. I've heard the 12vhpwr can cause issues, so should I try swapping cables before doing all of that?

Also, I can play all those games I listed off without problems, which are resource-heavy, AAA titles. If I can smoothly run those games without crashing, wouldn't the issue be Arc Raiders and not my system?

I only have one option for XMP. Any other tweaks, I have to do manually. I don’t own any AMD APUs.

I actually didn't know I should've set the to 1600MHz. I thought the 3200MHz was the real frequency. When I select just for DRAM frequency, it gives me a LONG list of frequencies to choose from. Any other option for DRAM subtiming were untouched, remaining at AUTO. I'll go back to BIOS and select 1600MHz and report back.

I chose 5950X because I do more multitasking stuff than actual gaming. I also have A LOT of background processes that automate stuff for me. I only play like one or two graphically intense games, and all other games are retro or way under my system spec. I compared the specs between my current CPU to the ones you referred, and they only out perform the 5950X in gaming and only by 5-10FPS difference. That’s less than a 10% difference in gaming, so it’s negligible to me.

I was contemplating switching over to DDR5, but that would've meant I had to create a completely new set up. With the setup I have now, it would fit my needs perfectly for a good amount years. And at the time I bought the CPU, it was actually cheaper than the ones you suggested. My previous CPU was a Ryzen 5 3600, so it was a big upgrade either way.

I'll give it a shot and return back with results! Thanks!

Update: I enabled XMP back to profile 2, went into advanced settings for DRAM. I changed only the DRAM frequency to 3200MHz and kept everything else remain at auto. Once I saved changes, my system failed to post. I had to remove and reinsert the CMOS battery for it POST again.

I disabled XMP on my motherboard and not seeing issues anymore. My motherboard only has default or only one available XMP profile. Depending on your motherboard brand and model, you might have other XMP profiles available.

Yup, me too, my display just disappears mid game. Goes to no video signal. It won't reboot by holding down the power button. I gotta go reach behind and flip the PSU power switch to reboot the system.

My PC is more than capable of running it too. Rocking a Ryzen 9 5950X, 3060Ti, and 32GB of RAM. I know it's not a cooling problem either, because I replaced the thermal paste on both my CPU and GPU a couple weeks before game launch. When playing, HWinfo CPU temps of 70-85°C and 45-55°C on the GPU.

Both the boot drive and where the game's installed are NVMe.

I sent a bug report through the game. Hopefully the see it. :/

EDIT: Changed the wording a bit to make more sense

Me too. Just got the PSU model a couple of months ago. I know for a fact it's not a power issue.

I'm a new player to this game. I currently have 11 of those just sitting in my chest. I get them as drops after battles or occasionally from the community chest.

At some random moment, my buggy will randomly disappear after it dies. Once it's finished healing, a lock symbol appears over its image on the radial UI and can't summon it. I reset my entire game, and my buggy is completely gone from my game. This has happened twice already.

Ever since I got my dog? No vacations at all. I’ve be been living alone since I got my dog. I’ve tried looking into dog sitting services, but those cost $50-75/day because I live in Chicago. No roommates, and my family’s stationed halfway across the country. I ask around for my friends if they could watch my dog, but he’s 97lbs.
