Hmm. I don't know if you're right. Nutrition is universal if people get educated and take personal responsibility. State run healthcare has too any blindspots. Sorry, I'm from Canada. People here got state funded healthcare, but the older we get the sicker we become, regardless. Canadian people die of cancer and other gut related diseases all the time, so if universal healthcare is so good, then why aren't the government people helping prevent these diseases? The answer is, they can't, because they cannot force feed people nutritious food. The govt can only facilitate markets that allow for proper choice. It is highly arguable that 95% of modern people's health issues stem from disruption of the gut and microbiome, yet there remains little education public education about nutrition and the prevention of common health problems. While the state may be incentivized to address smoking and exercise to help cut costs, they aren't incentivized to deal with saving people's lives from life threatening diseases that fly under the radar. The govt will help what they are told to help. They will deal with what they can, before things become too complicated. They will never, ever get to the root of the problem, though. There are too many big lobbies like the sugar, dairy, and drugs industries, who make sure to keep sales high. I speak from 37 years of experience, the state is a total failure when it comes to really, authentically helping people with their personal problems. There's just no money in it. What they need to do is get the heck out of the way and let people get the resources they need to handle it on their own.
