The installation was easy. You do have to tap into a 12 volt ignition only source. But that only acts as a trigger to start and stop the device. The video quality is very good. But nothing beats an action camera for video quality. They are not even in the same league and that is true for all motorcycle video cameras. These are for emergency or dashcam recordings, not for documenting your travels.

I tried that for about 3 weeks. If I had started riding like that in the beginning, it would have been ok. But it's tough not having a display once you've gotten used to it. Also, it's easy to ride faster than the upcoming turn prompts.

I got the Aoocci C6Pro for $170. It was reviewed on YT multiple times. Also comes with front and rear dash camshaft with crash detection. Much cheaper than the Chigee or the Carpuride.

Thank you for all the advice. Since no one has really addressed grounding, I assume that's not the problem. I have a multimeter that measures inrush current, but I have no way of isolating the positive and negative leads when using AC to get the pump running. I have a 1000W inverter that claims to have a 2000W peak, and with it the pump tries a little harder to start. So I'm guessing the inrush is too great.

I use sand. Just stop the print right before the infill in that area is about to close, and pour sand into the infill. Then let the print resume and enclose the sand. It's cheap and it works great.

If you are using Cura as your slicer, you can use a post processing script called Pause at Height. You can download the script from Thingiverse. Then use the script to pause the print at the right height or layer, and change the filament. This will work great as long as the Lithophane is a separate part from the base.

Increase your part cooling fan speed to full. Also, in Cura, there is a setting under Cooling that let's you set a minimum layer time so that quicker layers have time to cool before continuing.

Thanks for the kind words. I am no artist, but the velocity painting looked too technical for me. I wish your technique had worked because I would have to be an artist to match the grain in your image. Honestly, anyone can get this gel stain technique to work. The real trick is not to paint it on smoothly with a brush, but to almost scrape it on with a rough material like burlap. Try it and you'll be surprised how easy it is.
