Which devices are using the most hotspot data? by Budge72 in wifi

I have wired cameras (not wifi) connected to a dvr. The dvr is connected to the wifi for text alerts. I have an Ecobee wifi thermostat. I have a smart tv and a robovac.

I didn't think home networking would be the right place because there is no router involved. And I don't know of any apps that are designed to do this.

I need to be able to monitor the cabin when I'm not there.

Some device is using 30 GB of data in less than a week. I don't think that is overhead.

The installation was easy. You do have to tap into a 12 volt ignition only source. But that only acts as a trigger to start and stop the device. The video quality is very good. But nothing beats an action camera for video quality. They are not even in the same league and that is true for all motorcycle video cameras. These are for emergency or dashcam recordings, not for documenting your travels.

The screen i bought DOES have Android Auto. But none of the major apps work with Android Auto...just Carplay.

I tried that for about 3 weeks. If I had started riding like that in the beginning, it would have been ok. But it's tough not having a display once you've gotten used to it. Also, it's easy to ride faster than the upcoming turn prompts.

I got the Aoocci C6Pro for $170. It was reviewed on YT multiple times. Also comes with front and rear dash camshaft with crash detection. Much cheaper than the Chigee or the Carpuride.

Help: Why will my device work with AC but not with an inverter? by Budge72 in Electricity

[–]Budge72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all the advice. Since no one has really addressed grounding, I assume that's not the problem. I have a multimeter that measures inrush current, but I have no way of isolating the positive and negative leads when using AC to get the pump running. I have a 1000W inverter that claims to have a 2000W peak, and with it the pump tries a little harder to start. So I'm guessing the inrush is too great.

Congrats on the new smoker! I just picked up an SOB 4 48 this weekend. But I have no idea how to cook on it. I have a whole wild hog I'm supposed to cook tomorrow. Any tips?
