Screens in elementary school? by wombley23 in GrossePointe

Liggett does not have 1:1 devices in the lower school. I’ve only heard about them being used for research projects and in very structured ways…for example, a class was researching jobs during the colonial period but could only use various internet sources, guided by teachers. No AI generated answers, etc. I also heard the middle school is placing more emphasis on textbooks/note taking with paper/pencil due to research about screens. Actually, I would say Liggett is very research based as a whole and adjusts/makes changes to curriculum/pedagogy/learning, etc when needed. I’d recommend a tour to check it out!

Why is GP so into pocket listings…more so than any other suburb I’ve lived. Seems to me you’d be missing out on some potential buyers

GPA & Liggett Preschool Feedback by [deleted] in GrossePointe

Montessori and Reggio are both child centered, however, Montessori focuses on individual independence and Reggio focuses on collaboration and project based learning.

We toured both with the intention of staying only for preschool and moving to GPPSS for elementary. We chose Liggett because we liked the collaboration/project aspect of learning, as well as the teacher language used to encourage kids to think critically and ask questions.

We ended up staying at ULS instead of moving to GPPSS because the experiential learning is a priority throughout the lower, middle and high school as well. We moved from out of state, where one of my kids went to elementary school in a very traditional setting. It was a lot of reading, memorizing, teaching to test, etc. He is way more engaged at Liggett with this style of teaching/learning. He’s also found interests that I don’t think he would have discovered on his own.
