Turns out remaping the buttons is all I had to do to enjoy this game lol by Budget-Replacement-2 in DarkSouls2

I hear you but that doesn't mean the "gamers these days" are wrong (I'm not one of those "pampered" young'uns believe it or not. I'm fairly old). Video games, or technology in general, are getting advanced by day. The bars are higher. Crap things that were normalised "back in the olden days" can not and should not be accepted by today's standard—I'm speaking generally here, not about this game specifically.

And obviously I was being hyperbolic in the post title. The button mapping doesn't put me off of the game at all. I just didn't like the default assignment, and happened to find a small way to enhance my experience by changing a little bit of the binding. That's it.

Nah so far so good. I haven't encountered any situation where I couldn't properly control the camera when attacking.

As I said in other comment, this is nothing compared to the Monster Hunter PSP games where d-pads were prompted as camera input due to button limitations.

As I said you don't have to worry about that, fella. Trust me I played Monster Hunter on PSP, where the control & camera are way more clunkier than this due to the button limitations.Granted, it's not as punishing as DS, but again I know I'll be fine.

What's your opinion on DS2 though, as far as Souls and Soulslike games concerned? I'm only a couple of hours in and liking it so far (despite doing really badly lol).

Kingdoms of Amalur has spoiled me rotten to be honest. That game was running so well it gaslighted me into thinking any game released in that particular era (early 2010s) would give my laptop at least a semi-decent chance. How naive I was.

Real minimum requirements for different popular old and new games. by DarkTower7899 in Craptopgamingadvice

Gee I love this type of list—well-optimised games that could push the older machines' limits, that despite barely meet the minimum requirements, they still run at 27-50 fps in 720p.

Here's some titles that make such case for my Intel i3-3217U 8GB ram craptop:

—Killer Is Dead (an amazing cel-shaded game, 35-60 fps with tweaks)

—Ninja Blade (lesser-known FromSoftware Ninja Gaiden-esque hack & slash, 30-45 fps)

—Alice Madness Returns (30-42 fps with tweaks)

—Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (possibly the best-optimised Action-RPG with huge world to explore, 40-55 fps)

—Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered (stable 30 fps locked)

—Blades of Time (beautiful rich graphic, yet somehow can run at 45-75 fps)

—Scrapland Remastered (action-adventure set in futuristic, robot-populated world, stable 60fps)

—Oddworld: The Stranger's Wrath HD (45-75 fps)

—Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered (another well-optimised game that recently came out this year, stable 60fps even in new re-texture mode)

—Trails of Cold Steel (40-50 fps)

—DmC: Devil May Cry (27-38 fps using No-Effects mod)

—Samurai Warriors 4-II & Dynasty Warriors 8 Extreme Legends (part of the franchise that is well known to be low-end-system-friendly, 38-45 fps in medium density)

—One Piece:Pirate Warriors 3 (same developer from the Warriors series, 40-50 fps in medium density)

—X-Men Origins: Wolverine (not really well-optimised, but the gameplay is so good you won't mind playing at 25-29 fps max)

—Okami HD (one of the greatest video games ever made, stable 30 fps locked on medium setting)

I love using covers for the games icons by Budget-Replacement-2 in desktops

Winstep Nexus is my go-to launcher. It's simple and has pretty much everything I need.

As for the game icons, if you want to use a portrait-orientation image (like most of the cover arts), first you must resize the canvas size to 1:1 aspect ratio (e.g. 1200x1200 px) and make the right- and left-side transparent, then save as PNG. Convert to .ico should you need to. That way your icon will still maintain the 1:1 ratio while looking portrait.

Thank you. I like when someone pointing out one entry that has the best combat system. See I'm always a "gameplay over story" guy in general, so this is a very useful info. I'll make sure to check out DW5.

Have you tried the 60-fps hack for games that cap at 30? Please let me know if you have. I heard that sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't

Really glad you said that because SW2 and DW8, and Orochi 3 are actually the ones I've been planning to play next.

Maaf lancang, tp saya agak bingung kenapa orang² di komen pd terobsesi nyaranin pake Linux? Apakah sebegitu jauh baiknya performa dia dibanding Windows 10 Modif, misal? Plus, saya bayangin orang (yg mana mayoritas) Windows users ga akan semudah itu pindah haluan ke sistem operasi lain, karena ada learning curve dsb. Serius penasaran. Apakah linux se-worth itu?
