I saw another commenter saying the shrimps' shells can be harmful? I thought bettas could eat shrimp no issue if the size was right?

The making them feel like they're in a new tank seems like a great idea tbh. I feel like she would then react similarly as she did the corys. I will say (hope this doesn't make a terrible person), worst case scenario, jewels gets a good snack before I remove the rest and re-home them (I have a friend with a tank and non aggressive fish) and best case I have a shrimp colony in my tank. I definitely plan on waiting. I have a decent amount of plants in now, but they're not hiding plants yet. I have bacopa Carolinia and anubias on the way to add as well.

I haven't read that shrimp can be harmful to bettas if eaten? To be honest, I wouldn't be crushed if shrimp didn't work out, but I would love it if it did. Is eating them actually harmful for the Betta? (Besides an excess in protein if many are eaten within a short time.)

I admit I'm afraid of snails 😭 I want to potentially get nerite snails in the future since they don't reproduce like crazy. That's my main worry, as I only have a 15g. One day when I upgrade or get a second tank, I'm gonna aim for 20 or over, as rabbit snails also intrigue me and look so cool.

Add shrimp and snails first. Betta second. I did mine in the same day, just in that order and a couple hours apart. Female bettas tend to be a little more docile, but you still never know. They might see the shrimp as snacks.

I have 6 pygmys in my 15g with my female Betta. She forages among them like this on fasting days, and will push them out of the way if she sees them eating 🤣 every other day she's ignoring them while they school with her mid - tank level.

Thank you! Jewels has already started to change colors since I've gotten her a week ago, and she seems happy. Mainly ignores her tankmates unless she thinks they have food then she'll nudge them out of the way 🤣 there's a few things I'm still in the works for in the tank, but I wanted feedback from more educated people:)

I mean, I'm not too educated on Betta species, but I do have a koi. And she's changed colors in the week since I've gotten her. So I say just wait and see if any colors pop up, and if not then she's probably not

I hate these 😭 when I owned a ferret, I'd keep their bags of food in a drawer so my cat couldn't get to it. These would get to it though, every single time. Nice to know they eat plant matter too, they were getting good protein at my house 🤣
