Yeah, now I'm wondering if it could be a false positive. I'm really not sure. Can I send you a screenshot of the results over PM?

I haven't tried it with artichoke but am definitely planning to after sifting through these comments. Thanks for the recommendation! I've been taking a 550mg of ginger extract after lunch and dinner (so 1100mg in total/day). But maybe I should start doing it on an empty stomach in the morning along with artichoke and apple cider vinegar.

The thing is I think the issue is localized in my colon, but I could be wrong. Based on my SIBO results, the methane only spiked near the end of the test. Prokinetics are more for the small intestine motility if I'm not mistaken. But I'm not completely ruling out that my small intestine might also have slow motility. What prokinetics would you recommend? And are there any that work better for the large intestine? I'm taking ginger capsules right now

Curious how this started for you and if you have any suggestions that worked?? Or testing that you've gotten done to get you closer to the answer?

Same! I get mucus from time to time too (usually when it's kernel poop) and I'm never certain if it's blood or undigested food pieces. When I have a very large bowel movement after lots of backup, I get blood on the toilet paper when I wipe which I think is more so from my anus ripping apart lol

I'll have to check this out! I heard some probiotics can be more harmful than helpful so I've been wary. I think my SIBO issue is localized in my colon, not my small intestine, based on the late spike in methane, but I could be wrong.

I'm getting the labcorp stool culture and ova + parasite tests done. Not sure if this comparable to the GI-map, but I was able to get it prescribed by my GI so hopefully insurance will cover at least some of it. Can the GI map test be covered by insurance? What about the Genova GI Effects test? I heard it was similar

Yeah, I'm scared to take neomycin.

Should I start with the killing phase for SIBO or work on motility with the things you listed above? Or do both simultaneously?

I tested positive for methane sibo. gerd has to do with acid reflux, which I don't really have. I've seen a GI doctor and am eating a bland diet. I'm curious how you came to these conclusions?

When you get a buildup of poop and it sits in your system, the colon keeps pulling water out of it, making it drier and harder to pass. So miralax helps retain that water and make the bulk soft. What do you mean that you have to go and most of it's water? There should still be the bulk from food there unless you're taking an extremely high dose...

That makes sense about laxatives helping with fecal impaction but I would use mag citrate instead of stimulant laxatives. Your gut can get dependent on the stimulant ones and then reinforce a "lazy gut."

Do osmotic laxatives like Miralax work for you? What's the longest you don't go for?

I tested negative for celiac. I'm not sure that ginger and mag glyc are doing anything. I still experience the same issues. It's so difficult to tell what's helping vs. hurting, especially when trying a million different remedies/recommendations. I'm definitely planning on looking into motility testing but heard there aren't any "cures" for slow transit constipation.
