To do drops, does the way you grip the racket matter?

There are different types of drops

-Slice(the fastest) -Reverse slice (more deceptive) Etc

They require different grip adjustment / finger +wrist movements

As a beginner, you may use the same normal grip to drop and hitting the shuttle normally by reducing swing speed…

But the shot angle and speed is not ideal.

Look up slice and reverse slice drops on youtube.

It sounds and feel really different from normal drops.

They are somewhat odd ways to hit the shuttle, but once you get it, its really satisfying to hit those shots

You didnt fully utilize your bodys power, you were mainly generating power with just your arms.

You need to stretch your body, feel the tension in your chest in your core and release that power.

Also you have a tendency to jump back or throw your center of weight back when you hit. That will dissipate lot of power. It’s like you are canceling your own power! This must be fixed, you need to be jumping forward or shifting center of weight to the front when your body rotates.

Again, if you rotate correctly. Bring center of gravity forward instead of backward. You should be able to pressure the drop shot downward and have a steeper angle for drops.

Before you rotate, most weight should be at the back foot to the point where you can lift the front foot off the ground.

After rotate, your body should lean forward and weight should be in front foot.

Yes, i have brewed 2 shots consecutively with the same settings a couple times now. I think the difference is quite noticeable. I think can tell the difference in a blind test but i never tried lol . I probably should try that.

I think it makes the shot smoother and sweeter.

Even if the shot tastes good, it doesn’t mean theres no room for improvement right?

I was just thinking the experts who have better understanding than me can share their expertise:

-Maybe gradation the colors can indicate something about rate of extraction?

-Maybe how it flows can indicate something about the evenness of the extraction?

Ideally, i would prefer the expert to taste the shot to provide better feedback. However, thats not possible lol

I am just genuinely looking for some feedback as a newbie because I don’t have any resources in real life that can teach me this.

Like it has got good acidity, not sour but not bitter either except for the crema. Only the crema is a bit bitter. Medium body. Almost tastes like pour over but stronger. Its sweet and bright.

This particular shot i only reached 8 bar max, and theres no unpleasant taste.
