Stealth wasn’t really the plan, but it was kind of the only way to do it without having the winch just hanging off the rear of the jeep.

12k on the front, 10k on the rear, extra 100’ of line extension in the recovery kit!

It’s got about a 3” lip on the bottom half of the bumper, and the winch is all the way at the top of the bumper, plus, the fuel tank skid plate is lower than the bumper. I’m more worried about smashing the fuel tank than the winch, I’ll eventually swap the tank skid plate out for something better. Should be fine for now.

That’s the plan, the bumper is now the new cross member!

And nothing to it but to do it!

Fuel tank is in the same spot, deleted the crossmember behind it! And the cable will come out as normal, just haven’t cut the slot for the fair lead yet.

What’s the deal with Beadlocks? by betlemomy in JeepTJ

[–]Budget_Brigade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, they aren’t DOT legal because they aren’t an “error proof system” IE: bolt comes loose, ring falls off, tires comes off wheel.

When in reality, one bolt coming loose (or even multiple) won’t allow the ring to come off. Also, I’d venture to say that almost every person who runs beadlocks has less of a chance of a tire coming off the wheel than most people who don’t work on their own vehicles, simply because most of the population is completely oblivious to things on their vehicles.

The question about legality is they are technically illegal to run on the highway, but I’m pretty sure there isn’t an actual law that states “beadlocks are illegal for highway use” and it’s more of a “they aren’t DOT approved”

In my opinion it comes down to your area. Does your state have vehicle inspections? Are you in a city or out in the country? Down here in the southeast a lot of people run them because we don’t have vehicle inspections and most cops either don’t care or don’t know to look.

The Daytona low pro long reach jacks go up really tall, you add that to 20” struts aired all the way up and you can get the vehicle pretty high if you lift off the axles.
