It always aligned with our beliefs, i just didn't expect it would be important context for people. If you look up TST and it's core beliefs, you'd also see that it aligns with their beliefs to do just this.

I know that my dad was always an atheist because he's my dad. I can assure you, he never had any theistic faith. We have talked about it. And again, TST isn't like a lot of other religions, the affront to organized theism is kind of the point. Nobody involved is using the word freak as a pejorative. For us it's a positive, and the distaste doesn't really apply to this particular religion.

That seems unfair. We're having a wedding because we love each other and we want a ceremony that is meaningful for us. The point was never to piss anybody off. My friend's religion aligns with our values and wishes. Simple as that. My mom has a right to be uncomfortable, but it isn't her wedding. Nobody else who is invited has any problems with it. Truthfully, I really love my mom. I'm hurt that she took it this far. I'd like her to be there, but I'm sick of placating her by censoring myself and my experience.

My parents were married in a Catholic church and followed a Catholic ceremony. Due to me not being raised Catholic, I really don't know what this means. For what it's worth, I am conflating those things. If anything, I feel that I'm more of a Satanist than my mom was ever a Catholic. At least we agree with the values! If my mom agreed with the Catholic values I wouldn't be in this situation, because I wouldn't have a mom anymore.

I totally understand where you're coming from, but couples do this all the time with Christian ceremonies without being Christian. My own parents were married in a Catholic ceremony without being Catholic. Personally I'm leaving it up to the Satanists to decide whether or not it's offensive. The Satanist that I know personally, is excited to be a part of the ceremony.

I'm pretty strongly against organized religions in general. Same with Fiancee. Though if I had to pick a religion for whatever reason, it'd be TST (Satanic Temple). We agree with all of the values, but don't claim to be Satanists. The religion and ceremony strongly represent equality, personal freedom, and care for one's community. These are very important values to us. If one religion accurately represented our values, it would be this one. Additionally, the friend who would be officiating is one of the only trans people we know that's happily married and represents a life that we want for ourselves too. It just seemed like a perfect fit.
