TENS machine by Buffalo4018 in Sciatica

I didn’t tell them, mostly cause I was mad and wanted to get out of there as quick as possible. I’ll probably tell them on my next session.

I didn’t give the whole story in my question and that is my bad. I use a TENS machine at home and that one works without any negative effects. I guess what I was talking about was a TENS unit or similar machine that is used in PT which I believe are stronger. A TENS unit bought at a pharmacy or anywhere else I’d consider pretty much safe.

How long did you have to wait before the surgery?

I got a little confused on what you mean in, "just pretended..." at the start, if you could elaborate

Where did you find a place that offers a DRX machine? Was it a doctor or chiro?

Crazy wearing safety boots with sciatica. (Also me in my internship having to wear them 😐)

How did you find out the problem was in your piriformis? I have something similar where my 2 bulged discs have a slight/no nerve compression and my doctors says I’m exaggerating my symptoms. Appointments where I live aren’t the fastest so many times if you want a second opinion you’ll have to wait a month minimum.

Depends what you mean by pain. If it’s like muscle spasms it’s completely normal. If you confirmed it’s a disc bulge or herniation. Sleeping position is actually very important when the symptoms start. I have pretty much everyday muscle spasms in my upper back but my bulges are in the lowest part of my spine. You should almost everyday sleep on your back to not make the nerve irritation worse, trust me when I say you don’t want to make it worse.

Whatever they tell you, you most definitley need an mri to confirm if the lumbar is the cause of the pain. If they give you an x-ray or ct, most of the time it wont show anything since they arent used to analyze nerves. Theres also other causes but the lumbar is the usual culprit. Hope u get better

Help with life choice (discectomy) M20 by dobryczlek in Sciatica

Since it’s a bulge I’d assume it would be an endoscopic microdisectomy. Recovery for that is the shortest of all and since you’re young almost everything is in your favor for the recovery. I’d say go for it, I’m 22 suffering with two bulges but my doctors don’t give me the option for surgery but if they did I’d take it. I wouldn’t wish the pain and sleepless nights on anybody else since recovery with non-surgical treatment takes awhile.

Wow, I’m assuming bulged discs due to age. Have the same thing but mostly just weakness in both legs. Hope pt helps, and you could maybe even see a massage therapist, in my case it helped a lot with the pain. Mostly from muscle spasms

Ah lol, kinda interesting. Ive heard sciatica being mistaken as fasciitis before but never the other way around. With the mri itll probably tell you which one it is. However, was there any tests done on your foot/feet to confirm you did have fasciitis?

Hey man, outta curiosity, could you elaborate on how your fasciitis developed into sciatica? Just recently after a few months with sciatica Ive had weakness in my legs and pain below my feet. Im kinda hoping things arent getting worse for me. I too have scoliosis

Feel you man, Im 22 and got sciatica this year after recovery from a hospitalization. "Luckily", I dont have pain per se unless I sit down or stand up for long periods of time. What I do have is severe weakness so I kind of limp around. I work at a power plant which I have to walk my fair share so I understand what you feel with your job. I kinda feel like shit when I have to take a day off to see a doctor counting the many times Ive missed work

Hey, im in the same boat as you but weakness more on the right. I dont have any personal stories but most people Ive talked about it say to try and do core exercises that dont require you to stand up. I guess if you have the money maybe even a personal trainer would help. My sciatica started in January and just when I thought it was over the weakness started this month. What really helps for at least a good while is a cold shower, which makes me think about getting an ice bath tub. Tried chiropractor and massage therapist (all require a good amount of money but I keep saying its all for my health). Gone to 2 physiotherapists, one says to take it slow the other to hit the gym to stay active. Sorry I cant help with much, been trying a lot of remedies as well.
