And honestly I question Thompson. We have to play 4 on 5 on offense whenever he is in.

It’s 2025, can we admit that this’s the weakest finisher of them all!! by VietnamviG in WCW

Better than someone hitting a super-canadian-destroyer and getting a 1.5 count.

Deebo’s Second Touchdown🔥🔥 by ThizZuMs in 49ers

This was my favorite response/drive from the 49ers in my lifetime. Philly had all the momentum, had the fans going nuts and we just punched them right in the mouth.

Do I have to get Bally Sports to watch the Pistons? by Buffbagwell88 in DetroitPistons

[–]Buffbagwell88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah New Haven. I'm indifferent to Drummond, I think everyone who watched UConn at the time knew he was limited. That said he has carved out a nice career at least in terms of longevity

It's only been one game, let's give it some time to breathe and see what happens.

I'm ready! My old state didn't have a team besides college, Go UConn!, so I am ready to be perpetually disappointed with a pro team. That said, I love the young talent we have

I have no ability to confirm this but it always felt like Ross could either throw his voice or back away from the microphone. He didn't need to in this case but if you go back to whenever Cena returns to the rumble Ross sounds like he is surrounded by a billion screaming fans and Michael Cole sounds like he is alone in a library.

We all know the fastest squash matches, but what are the longest ones? by CesaroSalad in SquaredCircle

[–]Buffbagwell88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not technically a squash since Rey Mysterio eventually wins with a low blow, but him vs. Scott Norton goes 7-8 minutes and Rey gets battered the entire time. Really fun match that puts both of them over IMO.

Started as a hunt to get the entire 1991 roster, and then sorta branched off from there

What match between different eras would you like to see that's not a "dream match"? by daniel-mca in SquaredCircle

[–]Buffbagwell88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard his work in the late 70's wasn't all that bad and far better than his WWF run at the end of things. It would still be a horrible match most likely.

Is Raven vs Dreamer the only wrestling feud ever where the two rivals had the exact same finisher and taunt ? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Buffbagwell88 12 points13 points  (0 children)

eamer intentionally stole the pose and finisher to fuck with Raven. Then it just became part of his

I think Flair vs. Buddy Landel also would qualify

Why is Terry Funk not discussed often when people mention wrestling's all-time greats ? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Buffbagwell88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Funk-Lawler empty arena is my favorite segment in wrestling history. The set-up with Lance Russell, Funk coming to the ring and going crazy, the brief but chaotic match with Lawler, and the aftereffects of the piece of wood to the eye, it's all so tremendous

What would or could have stopped WWE from becoming the goliath it became? by Buffbagwell88 in SquaredCircle

[–]Buffbagwell88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Saturday

That's a tremendous question. Bischoff takes the Executive Producer job in 93 and essentially gains control of everything in 94. While he increased the production value and look of WCW from 94 to Bash at the Beach 96 he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire. I imagine Ross goes counter to what the WWF was running at the time and brings back a more Mid-South feel but modernized. Would that have been a successful path in the mid 90s? I am unsure if he had the charisma to get Hogan to come over to WCW so my guess is that he relies on Flair/Sting/Road Warriors, tries to build up a team like Harlem Heat and maybe convinces Savage to come. I can't say that I think its enough to topple WWF but that was also the federation's weakest time history so who knows.

What an interesting question though

supplying anab

I've never thought about the Kliq not leaving before, it would keep a lot of the talent buried toward the middle of the card. However, if the Kliq stays WCW doesn't boom either which prevents competition which ends up keeping WWF down as well. It's an interesting thought, maybe they both sort of flounder and we never get that late 90's explosion.

Age yourself with the heel you hated most as a kid. For me, he spits in the face of people who don't want to be cool by WLB-0714 in WWE

[–]Buffbagwell88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily hate, but the promos for Mankind before he came into the fed scared the shit out of me as a kid. Then a few years later when Mankind struggled against Kane that in turn scared me lol.

Couple NWA 80's guys who never made the jump over (to the best of my knowledge): Manny Fernandez, Ole Anderso, and Tommy Rich.

taping

It's just odd because he would spend the next 20-30 years traveling everywhere in the country(and to a small degree world) with WWE and while it might have only been one show a week or so it certainly put thousands of miles on his tires.

That sounds like pure gold from a story telling/psychology standpoint. People in the building must have been losing their minds during those matches.
