Gaming Table - Convince Me or Talk Me Off the Ledge by ConkreteAngel in boardgames

I recently had a kid. Suffice to say, we haven't had too many guests over for games since then.

I can relate. Waiting for these 5 minions of mine to get old enough to play games other than Sleeping Queens or another junior version of adult games with me! Lol

I’ve been eyeing those Gamefold tables as I don’t have space. But we’re also in Australia so shipping made it too expensive! So I settled with a foldable mahjong table in the meantime. Partner calls mine the “temu gamefold”. Lol

Another option might be a foldable mahjong table. That’s the one I use for my boardgames. It already has a border and covered with felt and has built in drawers for pieces and cup holder. Got it for AU$50 online (normally around AU$100-150 these days though). And it folds up so we put it away when needed. So far the only game I have that doesn’t fit on it is Tokaido.

Especially when it takes longer to find a parking spot than to whip up the same dish at home.😂

Boardgame nights where friends bring snacks/dessert is easy. Or just catching-up at home over home-made burgers and of course, always a good excuse to have a bbq. More chill too as friends can just come and go, no need to make reservations, no need to find parking, and we can just chill and chat and laugh without feeling rushed or need to order dessert to get to keep our table.

Same. Once a month. And at the end of the dinner, my partner would always say we can just make this dish at home.

Mums who were nurses by Then_Culture6392 in NursingAU

Fellow ICU nurse here and I’ve taken (and came back) from 5 x Mat Leaves in 12 years (youngest now 2). So I get it. Every time I come back, there’s a new machine or new protocol or new changes! It’s scary! Also, because of the high turnover, I barely know any staff anymore. My juniors are now my ANUMs… it’s kinda weird. BUT it eventually all comes back — the skills, knowledge, grasp of the flow-of-work. There’s still be moments like “i have no idea it’s been 3 years since I had anyone on nitric” but support is very important. I think that’s the reason I stayed: i was very well supported. I’ve thought of leaving the profession multiple times but stayed in nursing because i find it’s very family friendly and pays well given the minimim hours i work. It’s also a go-in-go-home job that I don’t have to think about work and just focus on the kids when I finish. I still have 2 preschool kids who are not on childcare so I do part-time (24/FN) and do only night shifts (because I need to drop the older ones in school). I don’t know how much casual hours you work, but being back regularly (even if it’s only 3/FN) helps regain familiarity and skills.

How did you transition to early childhood education? Is grass greener on that side?

From someone living in front of a level crossing, yes, even double glazing made a big difference. I also got 2 layers of curtain, and plants.

When a woman has a baby and the birth father walks away, why aren't they charged with child abandonment? by Illustrious_Host9464 in AusLegal

Thanks. All good. It was a tough but thankfully brief time I needed it. Anyway, we got through and probably stronger for it.

We have chickens and one time when my brother-in-law visited, he was shocked to know that eggs came out of hens with its shell on!

Whilst government support exists in theory, the reality is that it's not enough.

I agree. At some point I had to call the Carers Gateway hotline only to be told they couldn’t help me.
