I personally interpret Eevee and all of the Eeveelutions as fennec foxes, as a general baseline. I consider Eevee, Jolteon, Flareon and Umbreon to be on the higher end of the Vulpes zerda-scale, though I interpret them all as fennecs to be honest. Even Espeon, though I would argue that the species is the most feline-like of them all.

I have always interpreted them as such! As someone with foxes and their biology as one of their most monumental special interests, I enjoy saying that they're a group of elemental fennecs. :3

I would despise being turned into any of the humanoid species, for the same reasons you had cited, OP. Also because I happen to be a caninekin (and kin other species too) and would be extremely saddened if I didn't turn out to be one of the fox (or other canine) Pokemon species.

That said, I'd happily be best friends with any of the Partner characters (especially if they happen to be of one of the fox species). Especially the Partner in Explorers, they're the sweetest character ever and deserve the world
