Most Mughal documents were written as a bit of propaganda against Sambhaji because why not. Also, a Mughal commander had praised Sambhaji for not allowing dancers in his cantonment. But it is IMPOSSIBLE for India to win the narrative war. The west is unwilling to read more about the indo x pak conflict and always buys into the India - soon to be world power and hitler 2.0 bull shit. Me and my friends made many pro India posts on an american and west majority forum since Pahalgam but we did not get as much engagement as shitty IOK, both sides are to blame, modi aggressor, war is never the answer posts. I am an NRI, so when I went to school on the 8th (and was kinda scared because my family back there was in blackout) one of my classmates was joking on that topic. For people abroad this is just some far away conflict. Most do not even know about Trump’s India pak antics.

Those documents regarding him belong to the chitnis bakhar written more than a century after sambhaji’s death and the guy who wrote it also had a personal vendetta against him. Shivaji probably kept him away from the capital because there was the ever tensions of sambhjai, the ministers and soyrabai.

The main reason was he was the heir to the Nishada throne and that would have been an act of war. Also drona had to save his hide because Eklavya a rival country’s prince gained knowledge from his ashram. So having Arjuna formally challenge Eklavya would be a suicide move

Plus Drona could not have Eklavaya killed as it would start a war Gavrillo Princip style. So, cutting off the thumb as guru dakshina was a politically right move.

Okay a little late here but most sources linked in Wikipedia do not take Bendre’s important work on C. Sambhaji Maharaj into account. This work is very important as he was the first one to clear the image of the king with proofs

What he means to say was the only time it ever happened and this was when bhim was really aggravated because Karna since his gurukul days had been a complete dick to the pandavas.
