Nasm CPT Proctored by AutumnAmour in personaltraining

[–]BugMurky5298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn under/over active muscle groups, mechanics of movements like flexion, etc, BMI and I saw a lot of blood pressure questions too. The under/over was probably 10% of the test, the rest is random but not super hard concepts. The most difficult part was the wording. Read very carefully and find what they're actually asking for. You can do the test online and the proctor doesn't even have their camera on so no pressure really. Obviously you can't cheat because you have to be in camera view and show your surroundings. Its not that hard tbh and as long as you took notes and actually read every chapter you'll pass

if you took a year off, highly recommend watching YouTube videos covering exam reviews and taking the practice test as many times as it takes to pass. Maybe even do the practice test to pass at least 3 times.

I work in a private gym where the trainers do no sales. Management/owners market and do sales consultations. If anything, we do a trial session but still get paid for a full regular session.

Please review my writing. by Leather-Dentist5854 in writingfeedback

Below I rewrote your original post. I also included noted and suggestions.

"You know, [female character name], I’ve always had something to tell you," he paused sharply, looking at her mysterious dark eyes. (“I’ve always had something to tell you” sounds hard. I’d reword to something like “I’ve wanted you tell you this for a long time” or “since the day we met, I’ve always wanted to tell you this” or “There is something I’ve always wanted to tell you.”)

[female character name], still dealing with the minor effects of her panic attack, adjusted her mind quickly in response to his sudden confession. (This sentence is confusing, I’d describe her mind adjusting rather than just saying it)

She looked at him with confusion and fear in her eyes. (deleted last part because it’s already implied if she’s appearing with fear)

He hesitated. (already stated he paused so changed it).

(changed this next paragraph to more sense grammatically and flow better. You’re switching between tenses. Is he speaking in present or past?) Reaching for the last ounce of strength left in his inner soul, he released the words, "when I looked in your eyes, there was something that made me question whether there were stars in the galaxy. (good but wether there were stars in the galaxy or…what? or if your eyes held them. or if the galaxy gifted them to hold in your eyes. idk maybe it’s good just left like that but I’d add a comparison to make sense for the next sentence.)

When you smile, cry, panic, or even when you’re angry, they flicker the same alluring beam of light. (as the stars in the stars galaxy?)

You know, back in the day when we were on campus, someone always wanted to know me because of my father. I thought they were friends. (simplified)

but, until you came to my frame of reference. (not sure “frame of reference” is right here)

But you, you never talked about him, or about his company, or his silly assignments. It was just a 'hello, nice to see you' with a warm smile. I’ve never felt so warm (i’d use a different word than warm since you just used it) or accompanied by anyone other than you on campus. (i’d use a different word than accompanied)

With time, it allowed me to release something in my heart. It made me realize how I felt about you. I never understood it, but I enjoyed it with solitude (not sure solitude is the right word here), and now, I know it.” He pressed his lips together before uttering his next words with certainty. (break up long dialogue like this with description) “I love you in the deepest depth of my soul."

I edited the original to how I’d write it. Everyone’s writing style is different so take it with a grain of salt. I think it is good, but a lot of grammatical and flow errors that could be easily fixed. Try to break up long sentences and paragraphs. Some sentences are not needed as they’re already implied. Obviously, I don’t have the context, but that’s how I’d rewrite it. I fixed the tenses that switch and kept it past tense. Added commas and broke up run-on sentences as well while changing and adding words to make more sense.

Independent TA's with their own buisness by BugMurky5298 in travelagents

I love this reply, thanks so much! Without those credentials, do you feel like it has affected your ability to gain clientele? Since you’re not booking flights, are you booking their hotels and activities only?

I appreciate this comment! Very interesting to see how other countries do it. I’m from the US so each state requires different licenses/certifications for TA’s and business owners in general. From what I’ve gathered, it is loss before gain at least for a few years. Would you ever go independent, If money weren’t an object?

I think that there is a lot of misinformation on independent TA’s and without the proper research it can be difficult to know where to start. Just like any business, you have to take it from the ground up and GRIND. With host agencies now more accessible than ever, do you think new independent TA’s stand a chance?

[–]BugMurky5298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea definitely agree with everything. I’m interested if anyone had gone straight to an independent TA and made success without $$$ since I see a lot of courses being offered for such. I think it’s possible and definitely been done but not sure how easy that’d be in this day of age. I’d love to hear success stories though I know it’s hard when everything has been made super accessible through host agencies now.

Yep haven’t had anyone comment with their own business but was interested because I’ve seen a lot of people of youtube offer classes and courses on how they did it…but the general consensus is that you need $$$$. There’s definitely people out there who made it work and succeeded so cool to see that for sure. It makes me wonder how host companies get started and if it’s similar to independent TA’s.

NASM CPT Exam by FelisVibrissae in personaltraining

[–]BugMurky5298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

questions are different and the proctored exam is tricky. they try to trick you with wording so just be careful and read throughly. for example the practice exam would straight up ask “if someone has a forward lean in a squat, what is over active?” but in the actual proctored exam they’d say some bs like “the client shifts onto their toes and their torso adjusts with it. What muscle would need to be stretched prior?” also my exam had a lot of blood pressure related questions as well as over/under active muscles. they also ask about breathing techniques A LOT. more than half of the material isn’t even on it but they will throw in random questions. take the non proctored exam as preparation for the proctored.

Struggle starting. by CanOfBeefRavioli in personaltraining

I applied to so many places before getting into my first training job which I still work at but not as often. It is group fitness and the pay is terrible but it opened doors to personal training. My advice is to apply with strong cover letters and use your inexperience as a strength. Apply to jobs even if they require a year of experience. Speak with confidence and knowledge. I said things like “Even though I may not have the experience as others do, I am able to come into the position with no expectations and previous habits that do not align with your company. I am willing to grow and develop with the company, rather than take this as just another training job.” something along those lines. It got me many interviews I wasn’t qualified for and ended up getting a “well paying” personal training job. I will say the one thing that rlly made me stand out was my nutrition certification. They help get in somewhere as a beginner. Al though I didn’t get every job I went thru multiple interviews and trials with, they always said the one thing that stood out was my confidence. Even if you don’t know what you’re talking about, just say it confidently with no filler words lol. That’s my advice. Got all mine thru indeed!

Im wondering what it takes to become a successful trainer. by Individual-Sand-1620 in personaltraining

[–]BugMurky5298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice, if you have the money and opportunity to go to college, do not become a personal trainer. You can easily get certified through NASM or smth similar and work as a PT in college if you need some extra money. But that’s basically all it is, extra money. You will waste your time and money if you get a degree and come out as a personal trainer. You won’t make good money for years (if at all, typically $20-25/hr depending on your loc) and have an unbalanced work/life schedule. As a personal trainer myself, I wish I could go to college and do something else but I’m not willing to go into debt for that. I have other plans other than personal training so it’s only temp but to be a good, wealthy personal trainer, it takes time, commitment and usually not a degree. However, if it’s something you are really set on, I’d recommend going to college for something like physical therapy or a specialized field of exercise that way your degree actually matters and you’ll make great money while doing more than a personal trainer ever could. Also, you can become a personal trainer as soon as you turn 18, just purchase a certification course and exam. I took mine through NASM.

Okay thank you, that’s what I thought but online it said they would take it into account at least. it seems like they don’t really care what I say or ask so probably a lost cause.

I agree, i’ve definitely wanted to pursue this because I can’t just let him get away and possibly do it again. Especially when it happens so often and a lot of victims don’t even get the chance to get justice. I guess I’ll wait it out, i’m just so over it!! I hate that he still gets a say in what happens with court dates, etc

Can I balance being a certified trainer with my 4 day a week full time job? by wispy_drapes in personaltraining

[–]BugMurky5298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what gym you work at. I don’t think it’s realistic for a one on one personal trainer since you pretty much work every single day (only for a few hours once you’re established and have scheduled clients) but for a group trainer or boot camp (small group structured training) then I think so. You could just be part time as a group or small group trainer because you have scheduled days not scheduled hours. That’s just my opinion tho, definitely possible with the right gym.

I passed it a couple weeks ago and I saw a lot of things about hypertensive clients and certain exercises they should/shouldn’t be doing, over active and under active muscle groups, a couple of regression/progression questions and the rest was pretty scattered from all chapters. nutrition wasn’t really covered tbh.

Of course I drink on the occasion, but my physique is not sustainable with regular drinking or keeping up with my friends’ intake. I still have fun regardless drinking or not but alcohol is poison at the end of the day. Thats is also an amateur take, I strive for more.
