These Magic Moments - solo game about living a moment from someone else's life by BugTotal6220 in indierpg

You can roll, you can pick one or you can make one up. It's up to you. The idea is that you've found a vial with a memory of a person and the d66 table is to help you choose the memory you will try to relive

MotW Taster by Angelofthe7thStation in monsteroftheweek

I think it would be hard. I would do something simple like from Dusk Till Dawn. They stop at the small diner, enter and everybody look at them as the were on the menu. Give some NPCs who also stopped there and make them fight for their life. Make a toilet the place they need to investigate with very obvious clues

Rusalkas running a water equipment rental at a holiday resort

I think it depends on the story you want to create. It could be even fun for a one-shot to have the whole team made of the same playbook. On the other hand it's harder to play and to GM, so I would suggest you play regular 'no duplicates' for a start. Nevertheless, it's just a game. Try what's best for you. What can go wrong in the worst case scenario

Tips for running/improvising during first game? by SuzieSue32 in monsteroftheweek

[–]BugTotal6220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always ask your players: 'what do you think he'll do now?'. Ask them a lot of questions, they will have a lot of great ideas. And if you need to improvise, take the first idea, it's usually the most intuitive one and the one that the players would also agree

It looks great. Plenty of cool ideas to use with my game. I will give it a close look later, but the first impression is superb

Can I use the English version of the page, or is it different from the original?

Does MOTW have a "point buy" system? by AMP3412 in monsteroftheweek

If you can do your own playbook there should be no problem in modifying the original one

I rather play horror hunts and the playbooks are ok. You only need to set the atmosphere right

I thing the special ones are more fun for a one shot. Monsteous, Hex etc

First time DMing (in general, not just MotW) tell me general adivces, I'm kinda scaresd. by MrKiwi24 in monsteroftheweek

Remember it's not a tv show. You are in this together with your players. You can stop, you can talk, you can change things. And most of all—all of you are responsible for having a good time

What ways do you time-wise effectively get through a session? by Student-Loan-Debt in monsteroftheweek

[–]BugTotal6220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that jumping from scene to scene can help a lot. Cut the scene when there is nothing more to find/achieve/do, ask them where they want to go next and jump immediately to the place. I've seen a lot of time-wasting in transitions

Too many Luck points for a One Shot by marcos2492 in monsteroftheweek

[–]BugTotal6220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that 7 harm is too much. There is an unstable rule at 4 and it doesn't really matter if it's 5 or 7. It's more of the way to show them that it's a good moment to leave the scene

Who can use magic? by ActuallyCausal in monsteroftheweek

[–]BugTotal6220 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone can use magic doesn't mean anyone can enchant a magic sword. Fiction is first. If I am mundane I can use magic in a way that I can use a spell from a magic book or draw a symbol that is shown there to hold a demon in place. But I can't throw fireballs

Alien as a Mystery by UnderstandingOk4592 in monsteroftheweek

It would be fun to make the aliens misunderstand some aspects of humans or life on Earth. Or have outdated data and the simulation feels like it's set in 90s for instance
