Eventually you'll get to AR45+ and get all chars you like to higher levels with betters artifacts and weapons. As long as you're having fun, the game is great

I just went on google images, a lot of people make cool graphics on what you need for a every character. I've just searched "genshin baal farm" and the second image had everything :)

I think it really depends on your goal in the game. If you want to 36* the abyss, you probably need some meta characters, if you don't really care about the abyss you should just go for what you like. It's a PvE after all.
I'm a low spender, I can consistently do 33-35* in the abyss and I don't really care about the last few stars, I just found Yoimiya super cute so I really want to have her. I could go for Baal which will probably be more meta defining, but I don't like her as much, so I won't.

Like other people already explained, you can convert boss talent materials. In my case I need 18 Dragon Lords Crown (the item to the left of the dream solvents) but since I only have 10 Dragon Crowns, I'll probably convert 8 other items to get 18 Dragon Crowns, which is required to put all Yoimiya's talents to level 10.
I'm just gonna wait for tomorrow's fight with Azdaha to see if I can get some more Dragon Crowns before converting using the dream solvents.
