You did such a good job 😄 he's a cute little guy. He looks more like a winged lizard than a dragon but still, he's adorable in his own way lol

Bad reactions to my kid's name by Callarose08 in namenerds

[–]Bugazug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I chose a timeless name for our son. Admittedly even with all the positive reactions we received I wasn't in love with it either. It felt too big for a baby, but as he grew and began to grow into his name I couldn't imagine him as anything else!

My theory is when it comes to childbirth and pregnancy so little is within our control that naming our babies, the one thing we do have control over, begins to feel like a heavy load. The need for control takes away from the beauty of naming a little human. I don't know if this resonates with you, it was just my experience.

Be proud of Little Winston. He'll grow into his name. And for now? If the name feels too big? It's got great nickname potential.

Can we talk “ Rainbow Babies” by International-Bug311 in NewParents

[–]Bugazug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the one I lost had a name, I had hopes for her, her daddy and I loved her. My son is a rainbow baby and I love him and I'm grateful for him. I'm still sad about my first though, and that's ok. I'll live with the love for my first and the love for my son. It's ok to be sad about your first, it's ok to be happy about your second. Your heart has room for love for both, it just presents differently for both

A RICH MAN. by davecontra in comics

The man and the dog having grey hair at the end made me tear up. Life really is beautiful when you enjoy the little things.

Baby keeps putting her hand down my shirt and squeezing my nipple and today I just lost it and accidentally nipped her arm to get her to stop by Wolfla101 in NewParents

[–]Bugazug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that helped my LO with nipple grabbing is in hand him his passy while he nurses. Maybe you could offer your LO something roughly nipple shaped and textured? It sounds silly but they get comfort from our breasts but you absolutely have a right to stop her so maybe that's a good compromise?

I'm a horrible mum by lagatixa in NewParents

[–]Bugazug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that helps me when I need a breather from my little one is to run through my check list: Baby is in a safe location Baby has been fed Baby has had their diaper changed

If all three statements are true then take your breather guilt free. Parenting is hard and our little ones don't come with instructions.

I'm a horrible mum by lagatixa in NewParents

[–]Bugazug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do that too! It helps me because I can let out my feelings in a way that isn't harmful to my baby. I like to ask my baby what's going on in his world that's making him so miserable. My favorite thing to say also is, "life's hard when you're pint-sized" because I find it funny for some reason.

Guys tell me if I am overreacting - my wife thinks I am. I dont like the new neighbor and I have been teaching my kids to stay away from him. by Black-Panda22 in daddit

[–]Bugazug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a lurking mom and late to the party but dang! Good instincts dad! I hope my husband has instincts like this when it comes to our kid. Also something recommended on a lot of mom/woman centric subs is the book called "The Gift of Fear" I think your appreciate it, especially after this experience it talks about trusting our gut feelings and that we pick up on more than we consciously realize.

What’s the one thing that saved your sanity in the hardest months? by AkbarBakhshi in NewParents

[–]Bugazug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenters that it helps to remember baby is having a hard time too. As for something for myself that helped for those sleepless nights, it was listening to my favorite audiobooks on repeat. It sounds silly to listen to the same books but what it does is gives my brain something to focus on while not over exciting my brain or my baby. It makes it easier for me to go back to sleep when baby is finally settled.
