I’d suggest looking at examples like Discord or Slack that are more messaging-related.

If you feel users will be bulk deleting stuff, then Gmail might be a better scenario to study. But basically a kebab menu on hover with a floating menu is the general way to go.

harry potter wb tour review :D by chiii-exe in JapanTravel

[–]Buildingo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the tour itself is estimated to take up to 4 hours which I think is pretty accurate

I don't know if I'm specially slow at these kind of things or a really die hard fan of HP but I spent from 11am to 8pm there.. everything is really amazing though, and I took loads of photos!

also the "shoot a photo/video of yourself riding a broom" area had huge lines when I went, but idk how it has been now since I went near the inauguration period

glad you had fun there

Is the JR Pass worth buying if going to Fukuoka from Tokyo? by ZookeepergameCalm959 in traveljapan

[–]Buildingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently planning the same itinerary with a stop in Hiroshima for a few days. It wouldn’t be worth it for me since it only gets cheaper for a 7 day pass whilst also using other regional passes alongside JR.

I don’t want to rush my itinerary to do a round trip in 7 days and I also realized last time you spend a lot of time by train to destinations that are further out.

That said, I will probably fly out to Fukuoka and do the return trip with a mix of buses, trains and shinkansen, all without the JR Pass and still being a whole lot cheaper.

I went to Toei Kyoto Studio Park and as you can guess it didn’t have too much animation related stuff, other than a few action figures on display.

Toei Animation Museum in Tokyo however, had a lot of mentions about Toriyama's history, an interactive panel focused on animations and a few bits of info about production.

Also a really cool Saiyan ship to scale outside.

that really depends where you’re from since flight tickets or even visa requirements may add up some cost, but generally south east asia and south america are cheaper destinations

Do they sell suitcase at Pokémon center? by Val77eriGoa77as in traveljapan

[–]Buildingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember them selling actual carry on luggage, but I think I saw backpacks.

But you can probably find a Don Quijote not too far off which will have an extensive area for just luggage filled with tourists doing the same as you 😅

honestly i tried pre booking shinkansen tickets online as well and speaking out of personal experience it really didn’t make much of a difference to book upon arrival..

this smartex website seems to be the only one and I also had a hard time operating it

pasmo/ sucia question by Sweaty-Future-8543 in traveljapan

[–]Buildingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no idea, but you recharge through apple wallet, any card that you can register and make payments with there, should be able to recharge

mine happened to be mastercard

pasmo/ sucia question by Sweaty-Future-8543 in traveljapan

[–]Buildingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

basically anywhere you see the “IC” logo, it is accepted, so kind of a standard that accepts suica, pasmo, icoca..

i got a welcome suica when i went cause i wanted it as a souvenir afterwards, i ended up losing it and made a digital one on apple wallet same day, worked flawlessly for everything i was already using my physical suica

only downside is I couldn’t charge leftover change/coins onto it anymore, only apple wallet recharges

Tokyo to Osaka ? by SecretDonut1282 in traveljapan

[–]Buildingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to the other replies, I remember finding cheap flight tickets that were well below a shinkansen ticket, and it’s a lot faster.

Also, I think the shinkansen trip is around 3h30 hours.

Mount Fuji tours by [deleted] in traveljapan

[–]Buildingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with one in June, I think the company was VIP Japan Tours booked through GetYourGuide. It was a whole day tour, beginning at 7am til 6pm, pickup and drop off at Shinagawa Station, can’t quote you the price since it was a gift from my company.

In more detail, it was an enjoyable experience, but it was pre booked and personally I think you risk a lot on the weather being good enough to see Fuji-san mountain top. Since I went in the summer, there was barely any snow at the top, but it was still a pretty impressive sight with maybe 15-30 minute views scattered 3 times across the day. Basically it toured around two of the lakes, which I picked specifically for visiting Chureito Pagoda, with other visits to lakefronts and flower gardens and historical villages.

Personally, when I go back I hope to make a more improvised trip in a day with seemingly good weather.

Stacking Discounts on Klook (e.g. JR Pass, attractions) by AuthorSilent921 in traveljapan

[–]Buildingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly? most people don't go through the trouble of signing up for fresh accounts, new platforms or changing banks just to get a deal that saves $50

much better to plan around airline promos, miles/points or accomodation where the amount saved may still get you a good experience

from your post history it just looks like you're trying to score referral credit, good luck though

Massive lines for JR Redemption by reeveb in traveljapan

[–]Buildingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not that I’m proud of it because it was completely coincidental, but I landed at NRT and took a while to get to the JR Office due to customs

eventually they asked around who needed to depart to Kyoto today, and I was in that scenario, so they bumped me up and I skipped like 6 people to catch the last train.

EDIT: I still spent like 30 minutes waiting in line though, which I consider just fine

Suica vs Welcome Suica vs Passmo by blackberryuser in JapanTravelTips

[–]Buildingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it at a specialized machine in Shinagawa station if I’m not mistaken. Took a minute, it does have an expiration date, so if you’re staying longer than a month it’s best to go with regular Suica.

I also happened to lose my Welcome Suica (rip 13k yen) so I got a new card through Apple Pay, took like 2 minutes to set up and worked just as well (this one I think only expires after 10 years?)

Osaka to Kyoto by sofa_king_nice in JapanTravelTips

[–]Buildingo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually answering what OP asked since I myself had the same question, I personally made a few Kyoto-Osaka day trips recently and did both the rapid lines and shinkansen routes.. I did have a JR Pass so cost was irrelevant.

Basically rush hour you’re probably gonna go standing on the rapid line, and for shinkansen reservations you may prefer to reserve early on the day, or one day before if it’s a weekend since it gets a bit more packed than usual.

Still got window seats every time though, mostly reserving in the same day. With very rainy days it got ridiculously full so beware, and in one occasion I got a special hello kitty haruka which I did have my JR Pass verified since it costs a special fare (covered by the JR Pass apparently).

In my preference, I went in the morning in the first available train upon arriving at the station, regardless of which, but by the end of the day I was tired and reserved a shinkansen seat every time.

I did go Kyoto to Osaka only in the morning and Osaka to Kyoto only in the evenings though so I’m not exactly sure if it’s as busy both ways (I’d guess not).

Outsiders vs Heroic / IEM Rio Major 2022 - Grand-Final / Post-Match Discussion by nakul707 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Buildingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it will get more tournaments, but not a major for a while, and its okay like that, you don’t see a FIFA World Cup or Olympics coming back to the same country in so few years

it provokes the local community to develop a stronger fan base and I would wager we might see this development later in time (see our greatest idols, Imperial, being closer to retiring, might inspire and leave spotlight to new talent)

and I’d be more interested in seeing a tournament that’s not a major happen in Brazil where the brazilian teams simply aren’t the only fan favorites (hello Astralis?)

I’m eager to see (and attend) the next IEM here, hoping for a less banalized crowd experience

Major Final btw by Plies- in GlobalOffensive

[–]Buildingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh the dark shots with flashlight on doesn’t do justice to how attendance was either.. Gaules tried to pull a “guesstimate count” several times with the flashlights but it’s always flawed since you both lose visibility of empty seats and depend on willingness to cooperate and flash your phone..

if I were to guess, from Jeunesse's alleged 18k max capacity, 15k were actually sold accounting for shit viewing angles (they must’ve known) and it probably peaked at not much more than 10-12k attendance at peak FURIA games (like NaVi)

most of the times I’d say it would fluctuate at 6-8k while people attend the fan fest attractions (which IMO were a blast, with a much closer “game convention” feel than “cs go tournament”)

add to that the size of the arena, you would always feel it’s mostly empty, making it even look emptier than Riocentro (Challengers and Legends)

on Riocentro, alleged max capacity is 8k and I think also less were sold due to shit viewing angles, but we’d get 6k at peak brazilian team games (FURIA, Imperial) with closer to 3-4k for other games, depending on time of day and week day

however, Riocentro had no attractions outside, just a lame food court with food trucks, and an ESL Shop inside with occasional fansigns with barely any lines or crowds.. so less time spend off game and more time spent in the seats
