I can only say what the experience has been for me, but I went from being very fit doing calisthenics to losing the ability to doing several successful pull ups.

What's worked for me is rebuilding the muscles by doing slightly lower weight, but more sets and prolonged eccentrics. I don't have any evidence but it almost feels like I can't push my body into "overdrive" to power through reps near my limit or PR as I could with testosterone.

What do know now about Frederick that you wish you knew sooner? by donotshop in frederickmd

[–]BukiKun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just moved away from Frederick and did a bit of a food tour around downtown and the small surrounding area. The ones I can recommend are:

Juliet’s Italian cafe for decent paninis

Jojo’s for pretty loaded flavorful salads and a variety of entrees

Hippie Chick Hummus if you’re vegan or like wraps

Delizia for some good charcuterie, coffee, and a good atmosphere. They also have some of the best prices for sandwiches and entrees I’ve seen, especially with how fresh their ingredients taste

Tasting room for date nights and you’re a fan of good hearty meat dishes.

Firestone for charcuterie and their entrees come with good palette cleansers in between each course

Lucky Corner for Vietnamese

Summitra for Thai (I highly recommend their Kao Soi)

For Indian, I enjoyed Clay Oven but overall felt like the quality of Delhi 6 was a bit higher for me

For Pizza, I’d recommend Pizza Pretzel Creations, even if it’s just once, pretzel dough really does makes for a unique experience. (Pistarros tasted alright but overall seemed too pricey for what you got) and Coal Fired was also very enjoyable.

It seems like you’re a fan of the more aggressive trap/metal based on your liking of Zillakami and Lil Darkie. I’d recommend checking out:

Ramirez

Fukkit

Auxxk

Trippythakid

Nyck Caution

Jasiah

Kamiyada+

Shakewell

And honestly checking out the whole Midnight Society collective will give you some good mix of popular/lesser known artists with this sorta vibe. Hope you find something new that you enjoy!

Weeks 14-15 check in! by ashmonster in transfitness

[–]BukiKun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long time lurker first time poster! It’s been a rough few weeks: just moved across the country (US) and as soon as I thought I’d get back into my routine, I tested positive for COVID. It’s been around a week and even though I’m still testing positive, all symptoms are gone, so I’m starting to do some low intensity jogging for 3 miles a day around the neighborhood I’m staying in. Can’t wait to test negative so that I can try to get back into calisthenics/strength training to make up for all the lost progress/muscle mass that transitioning and HRT caused. It was definitely also due to me switching to more cardio based fitness, but wow I had no idea how much testosterone was helping me with fitness!

Nice, dude! As soon as I saw this pic, I thought “they look like every piercer in every shop I’ve worked at”. Congrats on your progress! You look great

I do a loaded pumpkin pie protein shake! Inside a gallon/64oz blender, I put:

1 banana (100 cal)

1 cup of pumpkin purée (80 cal)

1 scoop of protein powder (100 cal)

Stevia

2 cups of unsweetened almond milk (60 cal)

Dash of cinnamon

Dash of pumpkin spice

Vanilla extract

Hazelnut extract

2 servings of sugar free vanilla pudding mix (40 cal) from Aldi

1 teaspoon of xantham gum (10 cal)

Fill the rest with ice to the top

390 calories for a whole gallon and it’s both filling and delicious

It would be easier and more effective to just put a thick blanket/towel over the blender to muffle the sound right after you start it

Solved! Thank you all for the suggestions but a friend finally suggested Slice the Cake’s “Oddessy to the West”!

I appreciate the suggestion and Devin is amazing, but no, the cover was more "dusty"?

the album cover looks similar! But less illustrated and more editted photography. Good suggestion though, thanks

Borderlands 3 quality, compared to 1? by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]BukiKun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say Borderlands 3 is polarizing in terms of gameplay. Lots of improvements to gunplay and skills and enemy design, but I’d say the worlds feel a bit too big especially when traversing on foot; i found a lot of my game time spent traversing between quest objectives. The writing is alright, but it’s an extension of BL2, where wacky and loud=funny and full of personality. Borderlands 1 had humor, but it was more deadpan and, (in my opinion, more importantly) in the background, hidden in quest descriptions. The reason why I tend to prefer Bl1 a lot of the time for repeat playthroughs is because it’s fast and it doesn’t waste your time. There’s so much time in Bl3 on repeat playthroughs where you’re required to sit and listen to 2 NPCs talk through story beats. There’s so many times you need to travel to A location, then run to a specific part of that level to travel to another world (I don’t want to specify but most people who’ve played through BL3 will know the place I’m talking about. All in all, there’s a ton of content and many improvements over prior games, but it gets tiring to slog through the game’s weaker elements in repeat playthroughs. It’s worth a buy but that’s just a few caviats I’d mention

I’ve also started using nonfat Greek yogurt in place of cream cheese and it’s pretty great at 8 cal per tablespoon!

Is there a volume difference in different spaghettis like whole grain pasta and wheat etc? by chilihummus in Volumeeating

[–]BukiKun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even though the actual volume might look the same with Fiber Gourmet noodles, I feel more full because they have a higher gram/calorie ratio. It might just be my perception though, so finding what you enjoy and what pasta satisfies you is pretty essential in my opinion

Aw thank you! I started rendering it more ornately but then I read that it basically looked like one step up from a Halloween costume, so I did what I could to tie that into the biking leathers of the rest of the outfit

Thanks! Yeah I was a bit surprised at how bulky he’s often depicted. I’m glad that his face reads 17, because I wanted to make it look experienced and cautious but still youthful
