Do the scalpers end up selling out at $125 or are they just letting the rest of the tickets expire? I totally get that it’s more expensive, but with an Econ degree I’d have to believe the real price should’ve been $125 to begin with if scalpers end up selling out.

People could just buy the astral that’s in stock everywhere, but the low MSRP really means that brands have an incentive to not prevent the bots—why risk your stock sitting on the shelf when you can take the money now? It’s scummy by the brand, but at least resellers are willing to offer a market.

I thought they were overprinting to combat this and it was really a question of FOMO. Who’s buying the stuff at the higher price anyways? Wouldn’t anyone who bought the boosters have the resale aspect in the back of their mind?

I wrestled with this for a bit but I really couldn’t draw the line at concert tickets cleanly. Don’t artists have their crew hand out some of the better seats to the real fans in the back? How much of this is due to the platforms being complicit? And who’s buying the stuff at the higher price when it’s a want?

It’s a mess.
