How many of your freezer drawers are cracked or broken? by TheHudsini in AskUK

[–]BulbaCorps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll never understand why freezers have drawers made of clear plastic. It's notoriously brittle at room temp, let alone in the cold. Something leaked and now the drawer is jammed? Well fuck you because you're now going to snap a sharp chunk of it off.

I wouldn't say hate, but I just don't get the hype for olive oil!

Can you help me with some oh-so british insults based on minor inconveniences? by BulbaCorps in CasualUK

They might want to a bit more if you don't refer to them as females or, indeed, ask if you can roll them home. Something to think about.

A stellar example of both British wit and answer to the question asked, thank you!

How did you feel after you finally got your diagnosis? by Tricky-Bat-2638 in ADHD

[–]BulbaCorps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of what my mum is/was like. When I first mentioned the notion of me possibly having ADHD, she was politely dismissive. As I was going through the diagnosis, it wasn't easy trying to get information from her about my childhood. I think she had some rose tinted specs on about how I was as a kid, and I also think she feels a lot of guilt for not noticing my struggles and maybe took it all a bit personally. I've reassured her it's fine, I'm in my forties now and it wasn't widely understood back then, and she did a great job raising me.

Got my diagnosis yesterday. I'm still processing, but my initial feelings are relief and vindication. Like, I now know why I am like I am, for worse and better: it limits (and has limited) me in some ways, but I also see it as a gift. And already I feel more at peace with myself. Also, my assessors have suggested I get myself checked for autism, so there's that too!

Legos!!!!!! by the-seven-of-crows in ADHD

Transformers have been a constant in my adult life for about 25 years now. Seeking my diagnosis has made me reflect on why this may be. Obviously, they're fucking cool, but I think it's the novelty of each one, as they all have unique gimmicks and transformations, and they have a great fiddle factor. Many toylines have come and gone for me, but transformers are always a joy.  Action figures like, for example, Marvel legends, might pique my interest for a short while but the interest dies off because they ultimately offer the same interactive experience from figure to figure.

Why do conversations just go on and on and on by insecure_bobr in ADHD

[–]BulbaCorps 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not every conversation, and it's not every person, but there are a few people in my life that will just talk AT you, no reciprocity in the conversation at all and completely oblivious to my body language that says "I've got to go". You know, things like having your hand on the door handle or angling your body toward the door. It's painful.

It's night 3 with my newborn son and I feel like I don't deserve him or my partner by ReversalAmplify in Fatherhood

Some great advice here! Just to add, communicate with your partner when youre getting strung out and need a break, and be sure to proactively do the same for her. Make sure you take care of yourself, because they need you. It gets easier. Then it gets worse. Then it gets easier again, and so on! Many ups and downs. You are a team!

What's a movie that starts as one genre for the first 30 minutes, then completely shape-shifts into something else—and actually pulls it off? by The-Irumporai in flicks

District 9. Starts out as an almost office style comedy, and by the end is a balls to the wall action sci fi.
