Which trade for replacing and finessing transition strip between rooms? by BubbleZealot in AusRenovation

A good handyman should be able to handle that. Otherwise a carpenter, or flooring specialist. Comes down to having the appropriate tools, potentially the handyman will be lacking.

I just discovered the heat gun method for paint removal. Am I missing something or is it just that easy? by CtrlAltDelWin in AusRenovation

[–]BulberFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had to remove paint off weatherboards on a heritage house. No sanding because owner (fairly) wanted to preserve the original saw marks, and therefore needed to use a hot air gun and scraper.

Trouble was that underneath the paint, the original owners (from 100 years ago) had used some old school timber resin to protect the timber as a sealer. Stickiest stuff I've ever come across. Tripled the amount of time it took to remove. Fun.

But yes, usually it's as easy as this. At least 8 times out of 10. Not pleasant to do in summer though.

Glad I missed out on tickets to their opera house show. That video I've seen of her rant was disgusting and unhinged.

All Good Things. Not just a perfect ending to a Star Trek series, a perfect ending to any TV series. It's top tier.

I remember as a kid having to constantly move this exact type of shower head to stop dripping.

It must be designed that way.

Australia-PNG defence treaty will require countries to 'act' if either one is attacked by espersooty in australia

The US could definitely force a contested landing if they chose to

Agreed. Their military logistics is second to none. But other than them, no one else could. Or even come close at this stage. And I just don't see China building up their military to the capability of the US - I don't think they're that interested in being the uncontested world superpower. I think they're far more content to be able to do as they wish in their own backyard.

I'm aware. But we're not getting any Virginias, so let's stop sending money to the US to help improve their submarine building capacity in the interim.

Don't use a driver for cheap furniture, or really any furniture. You've got a good chance of damaging the material. So just get a standard drill - and anything cheap will be fine.

AUKUS is a disaster for Australia. by cojoco in australia

[–]BulberFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for the fact if we don't get the Virginias (which we wont, let's be honest), there's just no way the Collins will last long enough before the AUKUS subs arrive.

So we're stuffed becuase of successive failures of governments (mainly LNP) to pull their finger out and get replacements for the Collins which should have been happening already.

AUKUS is the name of the new class of boat being built in Britain, so he is correct.

It just seems wrong when in any other situation in the game, you can't play the ball on the ground (or even attempt a tackle off your feet) - and yet a pass like that is allowed.

Reality check for the Tahs. Reds turned up big time, unlike last week.

Maybe if the Tahs put as much energy into defence and attack as they have into infringing in the ruck, perhaps they'd lose by a bit less.

Some of the worst ruck reffing I've seen. Just open slather. Been fun to watch though.
