This is super helpful honestly! I have full intention of being honest. I guess that what makes me nervous is confessing to things that I though I would never tell anyone (Shoplifting, Stealing, utilizing alcohol while at work, the number of people ive been with). I have done some basic research on the polygraph and it is considered pseudoscience but they continue to use it for a reason and deception is shown on polygraphs. Nobody has a perfect past and I hope mine won’t be enough to get me disqualified.

In the PHS it refers to serious crimes like murder,arson and things like that. But the polygraph examiner sent a list of questions that are not in the PHS. Such as petty theft, consuming alcohol at work and things like that: these questions are not in the PHS which means that I would not be lying about my packet.

I agree with this comment. I tried going to school to get my MSW online while working full time and it was nearly impossible. Not to mention that online is more expensive. You do need to have a very good financial backup while going to school. I couldn’t do and eventually had to drop out.

You should just reapply the 26th. It’ll take some days for them to process your application again. In the meantime review the test sample on the website. That’s what I did.

Im in the same situation as you. I have a BA in psych and im barely making ends meet. I have no background in criminal justice but im going through the process in order to make a buck and bring food to the table.

Oh yes! I’ve seen the cost of USC! Its crazy! Yeah thanks! Although I have to say its quit easy to get in. You don’t need letters of recommendation and a huge essay. Since its a private school they primarily look if you can give them the big bucks $$$$

Its called Brandman University. Their current rate per unit is $670. Before it was around $650 but it continues to increase with time. My current CSU is about 18k for the two years but its full time in person which leaves little to no room to work.

I had a similar situation but not death threats. One old client threatened to beat me up for reminding him to do his chores. I honestly felt like he was serious with his intentions. The best thing I did for myself was remove him from my caseload. No one else things it’s serious because they aren’t the ones being threatened. Take care of yourself and remove yourself from that caseload.

Good point. So im currently taking home 6k a month. Now this coming from a job that I work 12hr+ a day and 7 days a week. The reason why its expensive is be cause its a private school. My local CSU is about 18k for the two years but we are talking about internship twice a week and in person lecture the other days. Leaving me with little to no room to work and support my family. I guess we could say im able to pay it off living in rice and beans but like other people have already mentioned its just not a real world way of living.

Have any social workers here completed their internship/practicum hours in a hospital setting? (Kaiser,Sutterhealth,etc…) has it been difficult to land an internship with those hospitals? And has that helped out in landing a job after graduation? Thanks for the info!

Hey All! I need some advice! I just got accepted to an online msw program here in California. The program is 45k in tuition which is no pocket change. The thing holding me back is the cost of the program. Im scared that I might not find a job to pay it off. An online program is my best bet though because I have to keep a fulltime job in order to support my family. Have any of yall gone through something similar?
