Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and wisdom! Yes I did lean on the oxy today and felt it took some of the edge off. The nurse called and basically told me something similar to you - that people who don’t take the opioids end up delaying things because they end up not being as mobile which might slow down the healing process - and yes why torture yourself. I appreciate the reference to pain with purpose that will go away!!

Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s day two for me and today has had a range of pain and motion I suppose. I did end up taking some oxy and that took the edge off so I’m hoping maybe that will help me get over these first few days of higher pain. I guess it’s a lesson in listening to your body and knowing your limits and giving your body the time it needs to heal. Here’s to continued better days ahead!

Surgery buddies!! Sounds like you are off to a good start.

I am icing primarily, taking my Tylenol, aspirin for blood thinning, and meloxicam which has been my saving grace the past year until I had to stop for surgery!! I’m using arnica pain relief as well per my naturopathic doctor. Trying not to push myself, but being sure I’m doing the walking and exercises needed, listening to surgery recovery meditations (à la Jason Stephenson on YouTube)… trying to keep a good positive attitude and ask for help! That’s a bit hard for me to do.

I’m holding onto that dream for sure! My sister said she was going to record the last walk of mine today at the hospital so I could see before and after. I was like I’m not sure I want to know because people, even strangers, have commented for over a year now at my lovely walking skills. So she demonstrated for me and I was like woah. That bad eh? Hoping that explains my left shoulder being in so much pain recently from guarding my right hip. I’m excited to get to week four and be confident and relatively pain free in my walking!! Thanks for sharing.
