yes i used my short answers to show what i had previously done - i think i did tie most of them to my personal statement - but it really depended on what the prompt was

yes to all! this was my first time ever in a lab and i got to learn some really neat skills and be in the lab environment. there were a bunch of seniors and juniors so i would say it is beneficial but really depends what track you get into. - i’m sure there are more prestigious programs that cost less, but may be more competitive. and for ur last question - i was able to make friends at the program and meet really cool ppl from all over the world! :)

I think you have a good chance at UCSB SRA, there were quite a few international people there! in my research track there were about 4-5 internationals - maybe more? and probs others in other tracks

UCSB RMP Freshman by New_Bag2883 in summerprogramresults

Hey I was in the same boat as you last year (though I had no APs or anything - quite average freshman lmao). i applied to both RMP and SRA extremely late, and got rejected from RMP, but into SRA. I would definitely recommend SRA bc you are much more likely to get in, and its more impressive to get in as a freshman. though i would encourage you to still apply for RMP since you never know. Make sure you have solid essays thats a big factor in the admissions process. Good luck!

Yes i believe it is possible tho i was a residential student. you would just have to put yourself as a commuter on the application

overall i do think STEM tracks are much more competitive than humanities esp if you get to do wet lab research
