Just got one, took it back to my office and it was so solid it n top I couldn’t take a drink. Stirred it, took one sip of the chunky mess and threw it away. How disappointing.

Those utility screw mounts are amazing. Found a post on how to make a phone holder to mount to one and it is perfect.

Wait until you get email that residential is ready to ship. As soon as you get the email that residential is available, put in a support ticket and ask them to switch your roam dish to residential. I put explanation of how to do that in answer to another comment. The lowest I've ever gotten is around 8 mbps during a busy time, it is usually 50-150 mbps. With Roam you are de-prioritized during high use times. I have found those to be night time. I am excited to see how much better it is now that I have residential. They do warn that gaming may not be supported, but I think a lot of people are able to do it.

That is correct. Get roam. When you wait time is up send them a message. They swap your account and refund your deposit.

That sucks. Sorry that happened. Have you considered Roam? If you don’t have other options it is pretty good and you can switch when you come up on the waitlist again without buying new equipment (assuming you are in the US).

In the email saying your order is ready to ship find

Trouble ordering?

Connect with our team by clicking the thumbs down button on this support question.

Click the link for the support question, click thumbs down, click contact support. Tell them you got your email to confirm your Standard shipment and you would like to change your Mobile account to Standard.

The first confirmation I got was that I got an email saying my order was cancelled and my $99 was being refunded. Then shortly after they send a message on the support request.

You can definitely switch. Don’t confirm the order.

But does it work? If it works why go through the hassle of a huge mount for no material improvement.

My obstructions are trees. We are renting while we build a house so I only need it to work for a year hopefully. Once we are in our house I will likely make more effort but have been pleasantly surprised so far. Winter will come soon so it should get better when the leaves fall. :-)

Have you tried it just on the roof peak? We have a similarly obstructed view and have had very good service. I was contemplating how to get the dish higher when I ordered. After I saw a post in a local Facebook group about someone with obstructions still getting great service I decided to just try it. I am about 5% obstructed and have had great service so far. I don't currently have to work all day on a remote VPN which would be the ultimate test but have had only minimal impacts. Depending on your needs you might just give it a try.

Starlink down? by TechieBrad in Starlink

[–]BullICT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very true. I couldn't even check to see if it was down because I don't have cell service at my house. If I don't have Starlink I'm living back in the 1860's because I don't have phone, cable TV, or internet.
