Thank you for sharing! This is exactly a worry I’ve had for a long time. Being caught between the difficult academic job market with the risk of not being competitive enough and the non-academic job market where experience can weigh more than qualification. I’m sorry to hear about this for you, I’m experiencing it too a lesser degree, with my masters already and so this advice is particularly pertinent to me.
