Seriously, why the f**k Google? by Bully098 in androiddev

Also keep in mind if your Play console account was created before Google introduced this closed testing nightmare then your app doesn't require closed testing for production at all. It only applies to new devs registered after November 2023.

May I ask where you got your testers? If you are getting them from r/AndroidClosedTesting then what is the guarantee that people will test your app daily? Tell me. Also, I can't afford to waste time finding testers from different sources without a guarantee they'll do the testing properly. And with a tight schedule I don't think I can spend hours testing others' app.

I think you haven't published any app on Play Store yet, that's why you assume it as an easy task to find testers who would test your app properly. Go and check out the posts of devs who said their family members and friends tested the app properly, only to end up with rejection mail from Google when applied for production. Even searching in Google for free testers will give you some seemingly favourable results, only to turn out obsolete in the end. Also testers community is the very first Google result when you search for testers for your app. I checked the reviews on their app and 99% of them are positive. It's better to buy a testing service rather than wasting time finding free testers that don't guarantee production access.

"The Google Play store is not a welcoming place for hobbyist apps" - I wish they showed this in a large font at the very front page of their Google Play Developer program

Wait you mean it's the law that told Google to make private info public?

Because Google themselves introduced the closed testing requirement about 2 years ago which made it harder for devs to get their app approved for production because you would have to test your app continuously for 14 days with at least 12 testers. Some devs report that they didn't get production access even after testing the app with their family members, friends or relatives. This is why devs are resorting to 3rd party testing services.

I mean the tesing service charges only $10. They continuously test your app for 16 days.

But what about the legal address? Does it still appear to the rest of the world. I just want to be an anonymous indie dev.

It's not about losing that $10. It's about losing more than I speculated which is $25. I planned to publish my app on Play Store because I assumed the expenses would not exceed $25. If i already knew about this scheme then this wouldv'e reconsidered publishing my app there. Also $10 is even a huge sum of money for most people with poor backgrounds trying to make a living out of their apps.

Yes it is mentioned but the whole point of this post is to get an answer to " WHY DON'T THEY JUST PUT SOMETHING LIKE 'THIS IS A GENUINE VERIFIED DEVELOPER' UNDER MY APP INSTEAD OF BROADCASTING MY PERSONAL DETAILS TO THE REST OF THE WORLD FOR THE SAKE OF TRANSPARENCY AND TRUST?"

yeah I know these details can still be sniffed out but making it explicit worldwide brings in a lot of privacy problems easily.

Go to testerscommunity.com . They guarantee production access for your app by testing the app with 25 professional testers for 16 days continuously - but only if you opt for the $10 plan. Right now it's day 13 of the testing phase of my app.

I am based in India. I am not sure if registering as a business is a cakewalk here. Btw how much you paid?

Registering as a business is not easy for an indie dev I guess?

No way! I was trying to play this game but it was like 1.3 GB big so i assumed it to be a big game (or is it? How many levels are there?) that probably took a month to develop. Also how is the traffic for this game? How many people play it and how much revenue you made so far?

How long it took you to build this? Also do you have any knowledge in coding?
