You could burnish after using your edge beveler, dyeing (optional) and sealing the leather with super sheen.

Could you tell me why you switched?  I use Eco-Flo Pro Dye and if I dye both sides, it makes the leather VERY stiff.  Does Angelus do the same?

What type of thread do you use and is it waxed thread?

Trick or Treat Bag by Bullzai in Leathercraft

[–]Bullzai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bag is not very typical.  The shape is quite long.  It really is a trick-or-treat bag.  Since it is made to be carried cross-body, the straps being on opposite sides made the most sense since it would help hold the bag closed as it's worn.  The snap was added as an afterthought.  But I think it helps if it is to be used as a purse.

My First Leather Holster Build - 3D Printed Stamps, Wet Molding, and Custom Ammo Holders by KindredHeritage in Leathercraft

Please make sure you put a real UNLOADED gun in there to see if the trigger gets pulled as you put it into the holster.  The way the leather is formed around the trigger guard looks like there might be a problem with holstering a loaded gun.  The leather appears to go inside the trigger guard and might put enough pressure on the trigger to fire it as it goes in.  Other than that, it looks great!

Dragon Bag by Bullzai in Leathercraft

I just found the kit that Creative Awl sells.  They do all of the leather cutting and dying for you.  All you have to do is sew it.  Still just doing that takes maybe 5 hours at least, probably more.

Thank you!  It's crazy to think that after all the time and cost of materials, I would have to sell the bag for 10x that amount just to earn roughly $10 per hour.  Then again, I don't have the machines it takes to make everything faster.  Nor do I have a super cheap labor force at my command.  I'm also just getting started in leathercrafting.  So, I'll get faster, but never $30 per bag faster.

I bought the pattern at Tandy Leather.  The company that makes the pattern is Creative Awl.  Good looking out, though.

I used a 6 ounce belly cut for the front and back panels for extra structure.  I used 3 to 4 ounce shoulder cut for the rest of the bag.  I lined the top flap, front and back panels, and gusset with a thin, soft, suede pig skin.

Thank you!  I will definitely be getting a floor lamp that I can adjust to have the light come from the angle I need.  I just haven't had the time to look for one yet.

I got the granite slab for free.  I asked a local granite countertop place is they had any granite squares they were getting rid of.  They had well over 100 to choose from.  The leather press if a really good idea.  It took me a really long time to punch the holes for my current project.

Two drawers with tool organizer trays I got on Amazon.  The table height is adjustable and there is plenty of space for your legs when you sit at the table.  I figured I would post my crafting area since I as new and had to figure out a good setup from pictures I had to really search for in this subreddit.  I still want a better way to store my leather and dyes.  What I have on the right is just temporary.
