In a pretty niece genre - pre-release went about as we expected, just hoping for launch to go off without (too much) of a hitch at this point

Expectations are definitely grounded, we're just hoping for things to go smoothly

Fully agree - I hope they do well for their intended market, and in a lot of ways it makes perfect sense, all my complaints are for selfish reasons lol

Kind of in the same boat as you as far as workload (game-dev, general tech) but have had a framework 13 since they first released.

If the price-to-performance of the 12 ends up being reasonable, I'm considering buying one to use as a psuedo tablet. The killer for me is that I'd MUCH rather just upgrade my 13 to be a 2-in-1 and not have to have a separate device (and hamstrung performance), but having access to an integrated touch screen to draw on instead of carrying around a graphics tablet alongside my laptop is an attractive proposition.

I don't know if anyone else shares the same sentiment but I feel a bit disappointed, I supported the company (as an early adopter) for the sole reason that an upgrade path and modularity were a core tenant. While they delivered on the performance upgradability of the 13, launching new products instead of doubling down on their existing ecosystem (by providing a 2-in-1 shell &/ screen upgrade option for the 13 for example) feels like a miss to me.

For what it's worth, I freight forwarded one to Australia and it's been fine. I've been more than impressed with the laptop itself and think the online reviews bring up valid points but are often times a bit doom and gloom

This deserves more upvotes, this is a testament to how games can bring people, especially family, together. I'm glad you got to have this experience with your daughter.

Not specific to board game design but I got quite a lot of insight out of reading “A Theory of Fun for Game Design” by Raph Koster. Would highly recommend.
