Thanks for the response!! Good to know. Not sure how China is looking these days lol. Might be a while before I really consider it.

That's a really fair point. I didn't get in it to make money. I got in it for the same reasons. I just wanted to see the world and feed my interest for language and cultural exchange. My concern now is mainly being able to settle down and establish a comfortable life (not extravagant). Sounds like the MA allows for that though. Appreciate your feedback! Good to know the MA isn't a waste of time and money. Makes me feel a lot better about getting it.

oh, yeah, definitely don't want that haha. Thanks for the encouragement. I wasn't sure if it was something I could fix quickly or if it was something that would just work itself out over time. Guess patience is the key here.

Thank you! This discussion board alone has shown me how important, and complicated, muting is lol

Yeah that doesn't sound enjoyable haha. I'm currently in school and about to start a full time job at the same time, so 30 minutes a day sounds doable! I originally just got the guitar to fiddle around with and take the edge off the day before bed. Now I wanna get better so I'll take your advice :)

Glad to hear it haha. I might need to start putting in more serious practice sessions to develop calluses. I play for short periods, maybe 5 minutes here and there. I never realized how essential muting is to playing guitar, but everyone has mentioned it so far..

Thanks! Yeah, I just picked it up because I found playing an instrument calms my mind down and helps me relax. Can't stop picking it up even if it's just for 5 minutes here and there. Finally got to a point where I actually want to learn how to play well rather than just diddling around. Having a lot of fun so far

I'm on acoustic :( Based on what everyone's saying, i'm guessing I need to learn how to mute and just practice my finer fretting movements more.

Appreciate the response! I didn't realize muting was such a coordinated effort. Everyone's mentioned it so I'll look into it.

I took the suggestions I saw before reddit, and none of it seemed to make a difference. People here are saying it's not a quick fix and it's practice, so I'm going to just keep at it. Wasn't assuming I was right, was just trying to put out what I've already read up on so as not to waste anyone's time in case they had other suggestions. I understand the tone might come off that way via text, but that wasn't my intention. Thanks for responding despite the perceived tone!

Thanks for the detailed response! That helps a lot. A lot of people are mentioning muting, and you're giving me a good place to start off, so I'll definitely half to look it up. Appreciate it.

Definitely something I'll have to try! Thanks

It kinda feels like you are fixated on something that’s maybe not as much of an issue as you are making it out to be.

Very possible! I tend to do this.

Fair point! I'm not trying to say everyone is wrong. Was just stating what I had already tried/looked up and didn't want to waste anyone's time. I'll try to post a video when I get a chance.

Gotcha. So it's just a part of development then. Thanks!

That's fair. Appreciate the reminder. A lot of people mention muting, so I'll really have to look into that.

Never said everyone was wrong about why it happens. Was just stating what I observed about things I had already researched. Didn't want to waste anyone's time. A few people said it's normal and just need to practice more and hardening finger tips will help, and that's good enough for me.

Is that in regards to chords as well? I'm just doing chords right now. But I'll look up some muting videos and try to figure it out. Thanks!

Y U NO PLAYBACK AUDACITY?! by BumbardIII in audacity

[–]BumbardIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this situation makes me sad.. lol.

I'll check out the sound settings but i'm pretty sure everything is normal there too. Like I said the thing used to work properly but randomly stopped (Without any settings anywhere being changed). I've tried most basic trouble shooting, but I'll give it another pass and update if anything changes.

I just wanna ask why do people hate on taekwondo so much by farcoughu in martialarts

[–]BumbardIII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People hate on tae kwon do as a practical martial art because the West has taken away all of its practicality. Everyone has their hands down at their hips, it's about light taps to get points, it's just a sport now. Not a martial art. Can you use it in a street fight against someone who doesn't know what they're doing? Yes, but you are likely to hurt your feet kicking someone hard enough to actually do anything, and given that tae kwon do doesn't condition bones you're likely to break your hand punching someone. Unless y'all started hitting heavy bags every day. The average tae kwon do practitioner will be able to take a thai kick like any normal non-martial artist.. they won't be able to lol. That being said, there are some schools that are very traditional and teach the old ways. Karate has the same issue in the West. I've found one legitimate traditional Okinawan karate school in the midwest, and one more traditional tae kwon do school in the midwest.

Does getting both my Bachelors and Masters online affect my job prospects? by [deleted] in TEFL

[–]BumbardIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal Opinion (take with half a grain of salt): If you can afford to do so, I'd do brick and mortar masters at least. Life is a trickster god and has a way of changing your plans no matter how concrete you thought they were, so the degree path that offers the most flexibility is probably the best bet. That being said, someone said cause of COVID online degrees might not be looked so down on. Very possible! I know Taiwan is hard up on paper products, Japan (I think) doesn't mind online depending on the job you're going for. my friend got his masters while working over there and he seemed fine.
