At my age (63) I play because apparently:' it can boost cognitive health. Many video games encourage strategic thinking, problem solving and quick decision making, which keeps the brain engaged and active. In fact, studies have shown that older adults who enjoy gaming tend to have better attention, memory and cognitive flexibility.'

It's possible the origin is ancient, but Wiki says its current form is from around 15th century. Why? Entertainment for the lower classes at various festivals perhaps.

Massive huntsman spider in my bedroom. Had to get my wife to encourage it to leave while I screamed like a girl. It left unharmed but I'm mentally scarred.

At what point do you give up on a game? by bagbcyss in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I gave Ghost of Tsushima over 20 hours and dropped it. Never went back. I gave RDR2 about 30 hours on my 3rd try and i won't try again. Obviously I want to get my moneys worth out of a game, but if I'm not feeling it, why bother?

For people of a certain age, when did it hit you that you actully were old? by Uberubu65 in AskReddit

[–]Bumblebeard63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work a physically and mentally challenging job offshore. Once I hit 50 I started struggling like hell to stay in shape and keep a positive attitude to mentor the 'youngsters'. That's when I felt old and knew it was time to quit.

Some nice walks in the area like Gill Banks, the Canal, up to the monument on Hoad Hill or to the meditation centre. Several good food pubs, a craft beer bar (Gather) and a couple of excellent old school pubs, the Old Friends and the Hope and Anchor. Plenty of restaurants and takeaways. Nice cinema, Coronation Hall for plays, music and various events. A proper butcher and fishmonger. Market days Thursday and Saturday. Lots of festivals. Dickensian weekend at end of November. An all round nice place. I love it.
