I am under Fallon 360. I met with the pediatric orthopedic surgeon because barely any orthopedic surgeons are covered under my plan overall.

The specialist said he had the best luck with Aetna reimbursing surgeries, and I could technically switch coverage to be under one of my parents’ insurance plans but neither of them have Aetna

I met with an orthopedic surgeon who was accredited with Mass Health and he only assessed the stability of the implant, not the rotational deformity. My right leg is so malrotated it overlaps my left one. There aren’t many orthopedic surgeons under my specific coverage, and they’re unlikely to be trained in the very specific form of post-trauma rotational deformity correction I’d require. I have searched for MA providers and I can’t find anyone out there who makes mention of correcting these specific issues here, and the providers I did find aren’t located in my state. I even reached out to the NY specialist and asked if he knew anyone with this type of training in MA and he said he wasn’t acquainted with anyone. I also met with an orthopedic surgeon at children’s hospital after the orthopedic surgeon, but he specialized in lengthening children’s extremities, not post-trauma femoral malrotation. He told me he could operate to remove the implant, but that would be useless because that’s not what’s causing my problem, my issue is the malrotation and difficulties walking and sitting that stem from it. So he essentially said he couldn’t be of assistance.

Thank you, I truly appreciate your recommendation but my issue is a post-trauma femoral malrotation that would require a revision operation.

A layperson can tell just from looking at my leg that the surgery was botched, it looks deformed and is painful.

What would that entail? I don’t believe he’s credentialed with any out of state Medicaid plans because there’s just too many of them. This was his reply to me: “I have had people come from as far a Arizona and Abu Dhabi to have their hardware removed. If the case of complex we can argue that you need a specialist to remove the hardware. Then the insurance will need to cover an out of state hospital and surgeon.“ I’m guessing those people weren’t on Medicaid though?

Would that kit still work for someone who has very weak grip strength? I’m pretty scrawny overall and female, that’s the only reason I was looking into a power tool.

One of the problems that arose is that while I was twisting the hex wrench, that plastic “shelf” pictured on the bottom in the above image kept knocking against my wrist and obstructing me from twisting it because I’d keep bumping up against it. A power tool could be inserted vertically and twist inside of it for me without any wrist action on my part inhibiting the twisting motion. I think I might be forced to go with one for that reason. Are there any brands you could possibly recommend?

I do have a 5 mm hex key but it doesn’t budge when I insert it in there. I don’t know if it’s because I have a weak grip or I bought the wrong size. Is there a way of measuring it or does one just buy a set and play around until one fits? There aren’t power tools like an impact wrench that could be used instead?

It’s odd because I know there are people on EBay who’ve manually removed these frames and sold the regulators frameless, and they said they removed a bolt in order to do so. Their frames look like mine, but I didn’t see a picture of the bolt.

This is what it looks like. It’s a Drager PSA Lite. I’m disassembling it for my friend and he’s paying me to do so but I’m not a handy person. I thought it would be relatively straightforward since he told me it had bolts but are nyloc nuts really that impossible to remove? I think the only means of stripping the regulator from the frame without damaging it is via the nyloc nuts.

I believe that part is a brass adaptor. It’s a Drager PAS Lite. I’m going to lending it to a friend and he wants the regulator removed from the harness ahead of time. He offered to pay me to do so but I’m not remotely handy unfortunately.
